Just so you know. This is not your regular watch review channel as such. This is something more. This is someone who has a problem with loving watches and then buys them. Uploads are when I buy something. Or find something.
That said. If I come across watches that I also feel are a bargain then I’ll review those as well. Just my personal views on some lovely watches. Don’t act on them. Please make your own mind up.
Also as the name “Thrifty” suggests. I look for what I consider bargains. And then buy them! When the wife ain’t around!

Looks really good. If I hadn't got a SanMartin 62 mas chronograph just now I'd have definitely bought it. I'm going to get it next though. They are an excellent make.
I am older version of this model, same amount of jewels with original crown, the dial not the same, gold plated 33.9mm without the crown. Just checked online: Avia watches are highly collectable and the rarity of this watch means the value will always remain strong.

Title is outrageous, so I clicked. Tissot had a PR 100 Quartz Cosc quite in this price range. It's also Swatch Group. If you can find one, it was 39mm if I'm correct, will suit your wrist better, although it's not as sporty as this DS Action. Great video, greetings from France. 😉
Thank you did your contents. And welcome to the channel. I do remember that model. You can find the odd one popping up on the usual online auction site. Talking about tissot. Tissot currently have a £780 classic automatic chronometer in the form of the 1938. £780! For an automatic chronometer!
Bloody hell that's a give away price! For me the bracelet is the star of the show - the head is nice, well executed but I had a sharp intake of breath as you rolled the bracelet around! Certina is an under-rated and under-appreciated brand - a lot like Mido (I just happen to be wearing one 🙂)
Hi ya! It’s amazing to think that Certina have a quartz dress watch. This range, and a Chronograph. All chronometer rated and you could pick them up if you shop around for a grand. That’s one hell of a triple! The bracelet on this is really very well made. I’ve now added a NATO strap to it. Which looks amazing. I’ve made a video of how good bracelet is and also the strap change. So I’ll load those I’ve also got two more watches coming. So stay tuned!
I Have posted about this watch many Times starting when the first PRX fist came out! I think this is overall more robust than the current PRX! No one responded to my posts so when I saw yours today I had to respond! My collection consists mostly of watches that have History( and that I can afford) So Great post man! I really like originals. And collections should always be about what you can afford there’s no shame in that. Vintage / originals is a very deep rabbit hole to go down though. I’ve recently come across one of the original digital Tissot versions but I get the feeling Mrs Thrifty is not so keen. But I’m gonna turn her around! Thank you for your wonderful comments though. Absolutely killer bargain, and a wonderful watch! I was musing some lengthy time upon the PRX Powermatic 80, but after learning of that some components (we all know which) are of plastic for reasons I might understand I thought the quartz was a better option, however I lost interest eventually, but that little watch, Sir is a dazzling gem itself! I would have one any day over any of the new PRX models! Have great time with it! Cheers!
Vintage originals are still a bargain if you can find them. But yes. This is going to have a great time on my wrist. Thank you for your lovely comments.
Firstly it looks more masculine than our new 35mm variant, secondly considering that this quartz watch is still working after 40 years, who needs automatic watches that come with all the hassles over the years?
It is amazing that it’s running still. And I have set this alongside my 9F Grand Seiko to see how good it is. We will see over the next three months. You do run the risk though at this age of it just dying. Another reason why I don’t wear the F300 for long periods. But this is actually an original Tissot manufactured movement so unlikely parts are going to be available should things go south with it.
I would suggest that you can rather put the watch in almost at the middle of the strap on the original configuration, make it one pass, the shorter part around the bottom of the wrist. Once you tie it all in the bulk would be at the bottom of the wrist instead on either side of the wrist.
@rogerscat their standard Seiko line has some cracking watches in it. Especially the mechaquartz I reviewed not so long ago after buying it for £150 in an outlet store I was visiting while in the area
@@waffleonwatches I got a collection os normal Seiko. They used to make Seikos really afordable. I got a Sagv007 Brightz Srpb41J1 Srpc03J1 Srpe45J1 Srpg09J1 Ssa309J1 SPL057P1 And Sarb017 I love the brand, but to spend over 1k for a Seiko is a real stretch. Nowadays, its the norm.

I paid for that in with the resale price that they were offering the watch at. And as it came from a jewellers that were also an official omega repair Center I also got a 2 year warranty as well.
Reviews of this watch generally have an uplifting spirit ha! Its on my "first chrono to buy" list together with the versatile Orient WV0041TX & the sporty Seiko SSC769P1 Thanks for reviewing this beautiful non limited Seiko! (We better mock them right?)
Amazing init! Makes a great office watch. Light. Quartz. And great if you are at a desk. Lack of movement to power the watch does not matter because it’s quartz.
There are times I think “What shall I wear today?” And just end up putting it back on! I’ve painted the house with it. Worked in the garage with it. And I just don’t know why
my grandmother got me into watches, in 1983 for 8th grade graduation she gave me a Hamilton no day/date, and in 1987 for graduation high school i got a Rolex Oyster no day/date. of course, i have bought myself watches over the years. but my favorites will always be the one i got has gifts or handed down to me. u can even get a Hamilton now for about 400 bucks, and that cheap for something that will last generations with a movement that's a tank.
I know where you are coming from. My perona my dad gave me as soon as I started to get interested in watches is still in my collection. And I don’t think that it’s been reviewed so I will look at doing that. I’ve also still got my dads original record. Which I’ve also done a review of. And I was talking to a Longines AD and I might look at doing a physical side by side review
Well. Now no longer produced there are some bargains. The one I reviewed is currently £660 and a local AD is selling one with a rubber bracelet at £790 I think. Will it become a classic? Well. 5 seconds a year is Grand Seiko territory, and we all know what they go for. All be out some would say vastly better quality.
Unfortunate ending to this. It needed a battery change and reprogram. By the time it came back, my mortgage went up and now my mortgage has gone up the same price every month that this watch now costs to buy. But I will get it. Or one of these.
I feel the same about mine. It's definitely a tool watch for me. It's the watch I wear when I need something durable that will get banged up. It' has scratches all over, but for some reason I love it even better.
I know how you feel. I’ve worn this doing DIY. I went to the tip today to throw a load of stuff away, and wore it. I’ve rammed my arms into the engine bay of my car to change the bulb. While wearing it. And then I go take the PRX off because I’m loading the dishwasher!
I own a Super Clone Grade of this model. Its classed as a 1 to 1 copy created using an original as the blueprint. Cost me $638 including deliver to UK. I can honestly say its utterly stunning on my wrist.
And that’s the beauty about watch ownership. And I have no idea like I’ve said before on my channel why I’m so ok with scratches on this. I treat my PRX with kid leather gloves! So may we ask. What’s your GADA?
Good questions. This isn’t what I would call a ”Demand“ item like say the black bay Chronograph was at the time. So the only way to tell is ask. Which I could do if you would all like me to? But can the average person afford it? Another great question. These are over 3 grand now. Heck of a considered purchase now due to interest rates in the U.K. That’s why I’m trying to put watches no higher than £1.2k on this channel. But even getting people to let me do that is getting hard. No one wants you to review a watch unless you purchase it. And right now even I can’t justify the citizen I just reviewed. IT’S £300!
