Brother, your free pack just incredible. I don't know anyone who provides also contracts and legal staff. Very nice prepared, nice graphic, text on the point. Just thank you for your time and energy. Blessing.
Our band just had a huge problem with Distrokid. Someone made a false copyright claim against our music, and it all got taken down. Distrokid give us no way to defend ourselves nor explain that we own the music.
That’s what happens when you release ambient noise experimental or boring minimal. It’s the age old stick with boxes of vinyl in the attic. Should have just posted to SoundCloud
Wow Thanks heaps for this as I had been wondering how to do a better Christian record label - as we seem to have an inner circle and neglect unknowns - we should flood the market with great talent that are not getting a look in. Christians often won't go to an unchurched label..
Ambient or noise just means you’re no good at song writing or music composition. I.e. a hood melody. A lot of electronic music suffers from either being simple minded or not being very musical. Taylor Dupree, I’m so old school I remember Prototype 909 and some of his 90s acid house offerings but then went all Richi Saksmoto or Mika Viano with minimalism. The problem a lot of that type of music is only making a cool statement but isn’t that great to listen to.
Yeah fair enough, it is a whole different kettle of fish to song writing I don’t disagree. But it is for a different audience to those who enjoy conventional songs. When done properly, it’s often just as complex and the musicians face many of the same challenges that song writers do
Bandcamp...WOW..I WAS BURGAARISED...IM IN MY HOSPITAL BED.....IVE ASKED THEM TO RESET MY ACCOUNT UNDER A NEW EMAIL AND PASSWORD......THEYVE GIVEN ME A BLANK PAGE..... STOLEN HUNDREDS OF ALBUMS ..... AND ..IGNORED MY REQUEST FOR MY MUSIC BACK......TOTAL THIEVES. .NO OR SHAM TECH SUPPORT AND BANDITS
They never made a big comeback but in a few years time I bet that streaming services will shamelessly force ads on everyone but the highest tiered customers. People will get fed up with this and go back to CDs. As technology becomes more intrusive people will want to downgrade their tech. I get by fine with second hand CDs and an MP3 player on my phone. I don't have to listen to ads and or need internet to enjoy my music.
Releasing on Thursday for placement on Spotify playlists could be a bit more logical than Friday? It seems that Friday will always be packed with vast hordes of other releases, so being a tad early might be noticed more, than just being buried in the usual Friday hordes. But then again, my material is not really latest top 40 hits type of content, it's mostly IDM, ambient, electronica, etc. type synth instrumentals . . . not sure if cutting edge release dates are that relevant, but I'm just guessing at any of this.
Royalties: I set up a master summary page separate pages per artist and label (2) and sent out regularly. Changed Distributors now 3 years in and NOT quitting (Thanks to @ScottOrr and @OtherrecordLabels. I am ready to work ON my business not IN it. This software is going to be my Proof of Transparency tool and basically a real asset to add to my set of tools. Thank you for the last part explanations. Im going to start with a $0 opener and start with my new distributor -12 months - and write off all the recouperables owed to the label for mastering advances and marketing promotion from the early days. Thank you #InfiniteCatalog I look forward to starting soon! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🙏
I agree with this, if only artists would use it while they're always on about "we just want to stay booked." I send it to them, and nothing. Tools aren't for utilizing?
Who is your distributor? I tend to find artists on my roster don't want anyone to get what they're getting, so they rather keep it a secret. Who likes that situation?
Let's go! Thank you for the in-depth review 🚀 We just recently launched and we would love all the feedback we can get so don't hesitate to reach out if you want a demo! ✨
The truth is a hit record usually goes to a major, indie music is for a smaller audience, usually regional, some would argue not as good, you don’t have the hit potential with a good song or melody. It’s suits certain genres that are less musical.
Thanks for the pointers. I will reload the Bandcamp artist app and message old and new fans! I have been on Bandcamp for many years but I know I’m not getting the most out of Bandcamp. I have posted a couple of new songs recently and I got some extra sales via online Radio airplay. I would like to post a best of,as my E.P’s are probably a bit laborious to plough through. I wish I could rejig all I’ve posted, without having to upload many of the songs again.
