Hi. watching from Ste Mmarie NB. Congratulations to all nominations. and ALL East Coast Music Awards WINNERS. Lloyd Doyle would be proud of all of you. ⭐
Growing up in Buffalo, NY, I had the privilege of watching CBC and CTV and listening to radio stations from Toronto. These things exposed me to Canadian music, and I am so glad they did. I got to know about many Canadian artists that I otherwise wouldn't have known, and one of those was Rita MacNeil. I can see why she was beloved in Canada. I know she made inroads in the USA because I used to see her infomercial locally, on a US station. And her song "Workin' Man" was known around the world, as it resonated with coal miners. Well, I was going thru old cassettes today and noticed Anne Murray sings "Flying On Your Own," which I knew as a Rita song. So that's how I happened upon the Rita MacNeil tribute on this awards show. It starts at 1hour27minutes if you're looking for it. Her son, Wade, whom I've emailed in the past, gives a touching thank you speech after several singers pay tribute, including the standout-- Jah'Mila. I am really impressed with the "ECMAs"-- they have their act together! Also, do check out "Jimmy Rankin" at 1hour53minute. Very creative performance. This music that people in the Maritimes make? It makes me want to visit and just be surrounded by such creative and seemingly kind people. I will get to Cape Breton someday, of that I'm sure. Rita MacNeil and the many other talented folks in the Maritimes are truly great ambassadors for this special place.
My suggestion, if i was putting on shows still..... id order in Mr Cecil Taylor from NYC to bring in his crew for huge jazz fest on the commons ..... peace festival ....... that would be epic
Mrs Bernards outlook on ther term at hand, its insightfulness is unfortunate..... that people have had the time to ponder on something that should not exist ...... i have been put in many situations in my past , when people have addressed me , for things that were taken well out of the initial context that i was trying to portray ...... my ignorrance eludes me, to have any idea of what Nova Scotian communities think of it heavy metal and punk type chaps .... i do no a few years ago there were some issues arising....... i do not no if thise people move on or not..... i myself , seem to be a solo artist now, all my lyric content, mostly had to do with crap of world issues, in my young days i certainly did not no how to get it out on paper, we all grow., and i am proud that i got to grow up among diversity ...... racisim was never one of them, because in those days , there was no possible way i could think to do things the way PUBLIC ENEMYand ANTHRAX did it ...... but, im willing to bet i have a couple ideas now :) ...... but, then again, no one like my idea of rap with a real live drummer :( ..... power to people, may the force be with you all ........ and who ever that group of gospel singers that sometimes sing in the park by the arena in fairview..you dont do it enough
Tremendous hours of music yet again at the ECMA this year - but what is it about getting everyone involved in a song that just make it a joy to behold and listen to? Rose seems to have a habit of this ! It took me back to a version of 'Chosen' from Folk Alliance 2015 (hope it's OK to mention another conference, ECMA ! :) which send shivers up my spine every time I hear it... this is what makes all these conferences so special, for both the artists as well as us viewers. To save people looking it up, just sit back, close your eyes and listen to this. Truly spectacular ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4WyG-UON90g.html&ab_channel=RoseCousins
🙌 Congratulations to Diner Drugs. Thank you East Coast Music Association for our nomination. 🙏 we'll be back next year bigger and better. Count on it 💯
I saw Silver Wolf Band, Alan Syliboy, City Natives and some other rappers - Devon Paul, Kam Speech, Joker (?)- a couple I'm surely missing. It was a good night out, and I remember thinking it would be cool of there was some summer tour that could give a taste of Maritime Indigenous talent to more of Canada. There should be a western version too that crosses east. One can dream, I guess...
Fantastic evening celebrating the Easter Coast with music that lifts spirits., hearts and souls! The tribute to Rita was magical ...just what we all needed!!!! Thank you ECMA'S!!!!
Looking forward to the show and to the Rita MacNeil presentation! I used to work on her CBC TV show in Toronto! A wonderful experience I will never forget! She was so nice to me!
What a dynamite song Davy, I sent the u-tube to my daughter in Ontario, she;s a great George Strait fan and you are ''''''''smooth''''' on that recording!
