hi sir, i wanna built computer desk and i wanna use pine for desk top but i read pine wood is soft and easly dents, is this correct? even i varnish its will be still soft?
Pine is naturally a soft wood as compared to oak. But it doesn't mean you cannot build a desk with it :) Go for it! It will not dent unless you smack it with a hammer.
Thank you for sharing this. As you said - I found many videos on installing the door mechanism, but not much information about the cabinet mounting plates. This was very helpful - and my Blum hinges are now installed!
You bought fancy hinges for the door and you didn't wallpaper or hang curtains? I just finished building this kit. I didn't have hinges but made up for it in other ways. The door opens, I used a wire through the frame into the floor and doorjamb. I also moved the location of the stairs and included a cupboard under the stairs.
Beautiful work..! done very very neatly.. thank you for the video..!! found your video as i am looking for a similar desk setup for my home office. keep up the good work. 😌🤘🏻🤙🏻
Hey, nice video. I got a question! Do you think I could use these Blum blind corner hinges for an application where the cabinet overlay (where hinge clip is) is flush with the door by adding a block at the back - just another layer of thickness. Does that make sense? Would there be enough clearance to open. Basically I have full overlay lift open doors with a valance at the top that should be flush with the door. So I need hinges that are on the same plane as and attach to the valence. Hinges that are flat when closed and folded when open.
anyone in las cruces area able to make such a tabletop? would opt for the cheapest materials, but need two 80" x 28" (1" thick), tabletops only. dark stain for sure, but nice and shiny (as smooth as possible). cost?
@@fraisdegout I think it should be good, the only thing to watch for is to meet both vinyl planks at the same level which could be a major issue if the subfloor is not, I am not an expert neither but I did the same thing from my bedroom to my bathroom and the hardest thing to do was to even up the subfloor as good as possible.
Great job! The only thing that ruined it for me was placing that fine desktop on top of two cheap IKEA drawer units. Otherwise, well done and video editing.
Is there a basement? Lots of space under the main floor, oh I guess not. I would have put in a drawer for storage, or a basement possibly. A dura craft kit. I have a four room house kit either from them or Greenleaf, never built it. But found a completed one in consignment shop for $75, many years ago . Has paint outside and in, flooring, wallpaper, even a fireplace added, a mirror on the bathroom wall.
Hey thank you for your awesome videos. I stumbled upon your series while I was preparing my bamboo flooring project. I just got a bunch of materials from Floor and Decor and they looked quite identical to yours, Mocha Stranded Solid Bamboo. How are they holding up after 1+ years? I'm gonna put it on a concrete slab on which old laminate floorings are laid down currently. Is there anything you would do differently if you were to do it again? Thank! I'd appreciate your advice!!
@@shomikpathak Oh wow that's great to hear, because one of my biggest concerns has been it being too sensitive to water and moisture level. If you don't mind me asking, was yours Eco Forest Solid Locking Bamboo or Engineered one? or a different brand?
Sorry I dint get around to it. But I found a simpler jig that works, in the next month or so I am uploading a 4 part drawer series that will show the newer jig.
@@mishtiliving Nice video. I just picked up that Freud drawer lock bit and going to give it a try. Did you get around to posting a video with the simpler jig? I skimmed a bunch of your videos after this one but could not find it. Would love to see what you came up with. Thanks!
@@hillarynguyen3712 I understand. I put the tools in the description after this comment to be clearer. I wrongly assumed someone doing this would have or substitute tools like table saw.
I don't think it's thousands. Here in UK - decent enough table saw you can buy for just £130 + £20 for a better blade. Router that will do this simple job can be bought for £30 ... top £40 with extra bit so you can do biscuit joint. Circular saw + better blade - £60. Ok - clamps may put you back near a £100, but - we don't talk 1000s but 100s and also - you don't use those tools just once. You don't need workshop - you can build in in back garden.
So you have no clue what you’re doing. This is how people think they know everything but screw everything up because they are cheap or ask questions. Not all contractors are bad.
2 1/2 years and I am the only commenter ? You did a very good job, you're easy to understand, plenty of information and well presented , I have the whiteside drawer lock bit and had no idea how use it. Thank you.
