Fantastic episode Hedley, the best one so far in this series. The opening titles were impressive, and the drone footage is spectacular throughout. I was surprised how Warren was always smiling, given the weight of your Gevrey-Chambertin in his rucksack must of been challenging.

This side-project of yours is really a good idea Hedley. Although I'm familiar with the two locations covered so far, covering the parking aspect is very useful. Many of the videos you or Paul have produced have made me want to re-trace your footsteps, but looking at the OS maps parking opportunities are sometimes difficult to spot, especially for the less known locations. Recommending paths or trackways up to the Hillfort will add to one's enjoyment. Walk on!

Absolutely beautiful, there are hills that form a sort of diagonal line across south England, ending roughly at the Sharpenhoe Clappers in the east, presumably the edge of the ice age glacier shelf??
@HillsandHillforts

Thank you. I think so yes, though as they are chalk that would have built them up and later glacial action sculpted their scarps.

Didcot power station in the distance in the closing shot, also the tower at Sparsholt firs where my parents ashes are spread. To the left of that is where my dad grew up and my grandad farmed the land. Waiting for you to do Blewburton but then again I quite like nobody being up there!

Spectacular!! Excellent production, great intro and outro perfectly combined with the music, well done!! The views over the manger are really quite something and it made me think that after being slain and spilling his blood the dragon lies below somewhere and those are his ribs sticking through. Clearly a Tweed-clad Antiquarian needs to investigate this theory further!! Not sure if you mentioned in the video but is 2 hours long enough to get up and down? Not for me, I always dawdle pretending to take photos whilst in reality having a break!! So now we know where you ashes will be spread, actually I think I might have guessed that, although I do hope you would find a space in a barrow somewhere. Are the views the best in the south of England? who knows, they are spectacular. Amongst my favourites are the views over Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight just as you come over the brow of Portsdown Hill on the old A3, this was at one time the main route in before the A3(M) was built. Great video Hedley, more please. All the best!!
@hedleythorne
@hedleythorne 3 месяца назад
Thank you SO much for watching David, I am very grateful. I love that view from Portsdown Hill - the first sight of the sea always sends makes me sigh. I think you're right- 2 hours isn't enough if you are taking pictures, stopping to read etc. At the same time, if you are clambering over the hill in a breathless manner like I did, it is probably enough. The ideal trip would be to include Wayland's Smithy of course. As for me, I will probably be buried in Marcham, but let's see! Speak soon, thanks again- Hedley p.s. glad you liked the music. I stole the second tune from a Linleys 360 video - I wonder whether Warren will notice.
