Welcome! My name is Max. I'm a nature and outdoor enthusiast, creating videos centered around outdoor adventures and the vehicles that can take you there.
Your cinematography skills are insane. Thank you for getting such amazing shots of the sequoia and sharing your trip with us. I know a while back you took off the front sway bar. How has it been without it?
This actually was stranded wire it just was the thickest stranded wire I’ve ever seen haha! I basically redid this entire wiring harness for the AuxBeam lights and used different wire which worked much better!
Hi Max, I've been watching your channel for a couple of weeks now and I just want to say your idea of the tent on the roof really isn't that bad of an idea. Like you said its flat with no rocks in your back, nice view from up there I'm sure and harder for critters to get to you. Harbor Freight sells a telescoping ladder for 100 bucks. Doesn't take up much space and would be perfect for this application. You should check it out and I think you should try the tent up there a little more. You just might like it for summer time use.
Rad video! Just came across your content. I used to have a 99’ 4Runner lifted and got in a hit and run and it got ruined. Just got a 05’ Tundra this past weekend and been checking out your videos. The editing and time taken to shoot these shots are definitely noted.
This the way I plan on going. Having a storage platform bed as my shelter and that way i can keep everything in the drawers that i need. Pretty much keep it as simple as possible so I can just be out in nature and enjoy.
it sounds like my 03 v8 4Runner i had. it was first muffler deleted then i went bck n did a res delete to make it straight pipe. plan on doing it to my 2nd gen cause i miss my 4runner (manly cause of the sound 😅)
i’m going on my first solo trip in a month the week before thanksgiving in my 2nd gen sequoia. i probably won’t be in nature since i plan on sleeping were camera will be probably a hotel parking lot 😂
I haven't encountered any wildlife like bears quite yet! I try to leave all food and trash bags in my car overnight. On a couple trips when I left trash bags outside overnight, it definitely looked like small animals went through it haha!
I have been truck camping for many years. Way before it was cool to do it. I think you did a great job explaining it. I’m definitely gonna subscribe. Best of luck!!
Great video & info... I couldn't decide between a 2nd gen tundra double cab with 6 seats & 8ft bed vs the 2nd gen sequoia in 8 passenger configuration....ultimately the need to move more people/kids made me go with the sequoia & after getting a pakmule ridgeline cargo carrier aka the biggest & lightest cargo carrier you can get now we have the space for people & gear we need
Its simple hitch style cargo carrier but the size is incredible, they advertised it as as adding half a truck's bed worth of space & it really does ....i throw the huge costco 165qt cooler 12 person tent, canopy, bags, bins, & that lets me use all 8 seats for camping trips
Ever consider taking a powerful enough flashlight in order to signal for help or just to point out of your vehicle at night to see whats going on? Something like the Convoy L21b sft40 for 30 bucks really helps me feel like i can throw light far enough to signal or check something out in the distance
This is such a good item to add to the list! I currently just have a small headlamp which is not very bright. I'll have to check out those lights you suggested! Great idea, thanks for the comment!
Any update on performance after removing the sway bar? I just got my suspension in and debating on taking off the sway bar when I install the new suspension.
It isn't super noticeable to me around the city, maybe I've gotten used to it though haha! I will say the off-road performance overall did seem to improve!
The middle bolts were likely harfsr because the manifold was bending out after the other studs were released. You should probably retighten the bolts after breaking them loose to prevent thay, much loke how you tighten and looses wheel studs in a star pattern.
I also own a 2002 sequoia. Love your repair videos, cause it seems like we run into the same problems on the same repairs. And I feel you about "it's not a repair if I don't have to take a second trip to the auto store" lol... I swear you remind me of me sometimes... not only that but I've also camped out of my sequoia. Keep making these videos cause it let's me know there's other people out there just like me
Bro this content is getting good. Keep it up. Hopefully we will see this Seqouia with that long travel kit if we keep seeing you grow the channel haha.
That sounds awesome! I agree you totally could camp in an SUV longer, it's just not as ideal as a truck camper in my opinion. But then of course the truck camper has that additional cost so maybe it evens out haha! Both are great options at the end of the day!
Great video! Did you have to re-gear your axle ratios when you added the larger tires? Or if not, is it necessary? Do you think you could get away with the stock bumper if you went with a 16-inch wheel with 34-inch tires? Thanks!
I did not re-gear! It definitely drives slower but I've gotten used to it. I didn't buy the Sequoia for speed haha! You may have to trim a tinyyyy bit, but for the most part I'd guess that you'd be fine with the stock bumper and 34's!
