Also, i observed that you used the same knee measurement at the front for the back knee. You used 11.75 minus 1.5 to get the knee round at the front. Which you also used for the back. I was thinking you were supposed to use 12.75 minus 1.5 for the back knee all the way down. I am confused. Kindly put me through ma. Thank you.

@@bukolaokunola-ws9sx hello …. Please don’t be confused. Use this simple method…. Whatever you have on your hip, please minus 1.5” and use for the knee, that’s all. You can minus from as small 3/4” to as much as 2” for the knee all depending on how pencil you client wants the knee area.

@@bukolaokunola-ws9sx Thank you for watching my video 🙏…. You see this butt crack, I don’t advise guess work because it may fail. It’s best to ask for a measurement. I used my measurement I took on myself for the butt crack because everyone has a different butt look which affects the measurement.

Did you add any allowance for the zipper? I also noticed you didn't finish explaining the waist on the back pattern. I think you mentioned that the curve cut on the front had t also be added to the back. I am short 4'11 (my hip is 56 inches). 36 inches is in the back from hip to hip, the other 20 is in the front. Is adding and subtracting 1 inch enough? I feel like I should be borrowing more from the front and adding to the back. What do you recommend?
@MAKADELFashionSchool
@MAKADELFashionSchool 8 дней назад
@@bombcherryjuice2000 hello and apologies for my late response and thank you for watching my video. First of all for the zipper, you have to add your zipper allowance and all other necessary allowances. If you watch the part 2 of this video, you will find that there. For the front curve, I meant that atimes when you go down 1.5” and curve for the front, it could give some excess at the whole waist, you will need to check that when taking the total waist measurements before you shape it at the sides. For the allocation of hip…. You can take a tape, or ask someone to help you out and measure your hip front from side to side and also the hip back from side to side and you will know the difference and use that to calculate ( which here you said back is 36 and front is 20) if using that, then you won’t have to add the 1” thing I did to the back, you will rather draft the front pattern using 20 divided by 2 = 10 Back pattern using 36 divided by 2 = 18” and if you don’t…… then you use 56 divided by 2 = 28 Then Hip front is 28 - 1 = 27” Hip back is 28 + 1 = 29” And you can also use 1.5” to do the calculation as well. If you would like us to do this together then you can get to me on the school WhatsApp number and we can do video calls and take the measurements together.

If you are working with Ankara and you need a longer sleeve, then you have to cut the sleeve differently and attach because Ankara has a length of 45 and width of about 23 or 25 on fold, so that won’t be enough.

Can you tell me what your front waist length and back waist length is, then I will tell you what to use. In this method of pattern drafting, there are some of your measurements you have to tailor it to the one in the textbook. Also note that your D to A1 is the measurement of your front waist length. Let’s say your back waist length from A to D(back) is 42cm then your front waist length measurement (D to A1) will be 44cm

My measurements are : Bust -45 Waist - 38 Hip - 48 Now I divided my bust by 4 (45/4=11.5) and I added 1 to 2” to that. Waist divided by 4 plus 1.5” Hip divided by 4 plus 1 to 2” and if I want the hip part fitted, I only add half inch. Finally, if it gets confusing, just use your exact measurements and then add zip at the back

Thanks for the video ma'am. But my concern is after cutting, because of the difference in hip measurement, (that is subtracting 1inc from the front and adding to the back), the back bodice was wider than the front bodice on the hip area. So how does one join the back and front together?
@MAKADELFashionSchool
@MAKADELFashionSchool 6 месяцев назад
I really wish I could do a voice over to explain to you better. If you take a tape and measure your front (from side to side at your hip region) it will be definitely less than the back because of your bum at your back. So if you have 19 in front, you may have 20 or more at the back. Having said this, if you make your pattern and cut, the back skirt may be bigger than the front, don’t panic. Pls join it together first and wear it and see if it fits or not. That’s why I recommend you take a calico(muslin) or any cheap fabric and make a prototype (mockup) cut it and see fully, then let’s see the outcome first. You can also chat me up on the school WhatsApp number 08037134216 if you still don’t get it and pls let me know you are from here and it’s about the Skirt.
