Even with great low light performance and great battery life. The Action 5 was a disappointment, lowering bitrate and calling it "Pro" is weird, textured surfaces on the Action 5 are barely visible especially with fast movements. I ended going for Action 4, it's not worth the upgrade. Blue sky color gradients are a lot better on the Action 4, they need to hurry up and release an update because it's ridiculous for something that's supposed to be "Pro".

I don’t know what it is, but I still like the video quality of the Action 4. I did order the Action 5 and I hope DJI does a firmware update or I’m going to just send it back, the footage looks money and not as detailed. This is just my opinion. I wish we had a choice of bit rate.🤷♂️
The reliability of the new Mic2 integration made me upgrade from Action 4. The 5 isn't perfect anyway, and i'm referring to the lower bitrate that produces visible artifacts in some situations. DJI promised a fix in a future firmware. Hope they fix it because the new sensor deserves it.
Dear Luke I am 80 years old and have been filming for many years, I have filmed with the DJI Pocket 3 and made great evening and night shots. I sold it because this great camera is too focused on the autofocus. So as an action camera too many out-of-focus shots due to the 1 inch chip. So I hoped to achieve this with the Action 5 in the night shots. It does not work at all. Look at my film RU-vid with the Pocket 3 to my film Budapest by night incredibly good. Still thank you for your very many and fine tests, thank you and keep doing this. ( RU-vid Ton Kellner )
@@tonkellner8582 thank you! Yeah I like the Pocket 3 because it has higher video quality and it’s great at low light. I see what you mean about the autofocus, and sometimes can be hard to address but I guess it’s a trade off
Thanks for sharing I have both and the first thing I noticed is the Clouds look terrible in OA5 compared to OA4. Even your video shows the clouds look way better on OA4
Interesting. Battery life too? Overheating too? Dynamic range better? Screen visibility outdoors better? Screen bigger? Have you tried the record buttons and how they feel? Better on the A4? Let me know if you have both cameras because I’m curious
@@OttoJulian_ I have both , and the 4 is better , I have the adventure pack , so I have 3 batteries with the 4 , not a concern , never over heats, nor do I use it at night, as both the 4 and 5 are brutal at night , I never once was like wow these screen needs to be bigger, its an action cam , and the dynamic range is not bette on the 5, thats the whole point he's making by saying the 4 is better, I was holding on to the 5 to see if it can get better , and I now don't think they can save the 5 with firmwares
Bought the DJI Action 5 but returned it after a few days of use. Action shots were woolly. Night shots were disappointing, I definitely expected better. On some points a slight improvement DJI Action 4. After all the commotion .... new Chip expected more. Now looking forward to the Ace Pro 2 next October.
Hey thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience. Seems like the community has been split with this camera, I still believe that the high dynamic range is key but I get that not everyone cares about it and this is not so important in some situations

Personally.. i prefer the 4 over the 5 in color quality. Bec it is more alive. The 5 is a bit pale in color.. perhaps the nd filter can improve the 5.. However the action 5 wins at low light, gimbal, under water and battery life.
Excellent for making VODs. When live streaming it is the same as the Action 4, via Webcam Mode it can not live stream higher than 30fps. Most streamers need at least 60fps. Since DJI 3, streamers have been reaching out to DJI to address the streaming issues. It is a shame, they are losing the live-streamer market for something so simple, and the live-streamer market is growing fast, it has grown hugely since DJI 3 surfaced.
Man I am finding such poor choppiness at 24fps on panning/ Vlogging on Pocket 3, looks worse than on my ZVE1, not sure why, maybe sensor readout or something. So I’m having to really use 50/60 (depending on country shooting).
excellent video bought this camera 2 days a go it was very confusing seen over fifty or so videos on the 360 and your the best i have subscribed might have another question soon enjoy your day
Terrible product! I bought the GoPro expecting high performance, but what I got was nothing but disappointment. The camera overheats every 10 minutes, making it nearly impossible to record long videos or use it in warm conditions. It seems like the cooling system is completely ineffective. I do not recommend buying it, as it’s basically throwing money away. For the price, I expected something far more durable and reliable, but this is honestly the worst product I’ve ever used. Stay away from this trap!
The GO series of cameras is a James Bond type of gadget. What sucks is Insta360 support. Get ready to be ripped off when it is time for a battery replacement. Insta360 support won't even quote the cost of battery replacement until they receive the camera in their lab. It is time for GO camera with removable battery like all the major action cameras.
I tried exporting my 4k horizontal video into a cropped vertical 1080p via DaVinci Resolve 19, and every time I upload to instagram, it gets super pixelated. I tried several recommended settings from youtubers, but nothing seems to work. I tried uploading via wifi on my smartphone, and it's still the same issue. When uploading via desktop, the video is fine. The issue is Meta Business Suite does not have the same creative capabilities as instagram mobile app. It's heavily limited.
Hi, How is the footage quality for Android as it wont allow to use the native app. I have a s23 ultra and tried with DjJ Se gimbal but it was worse. I am checking this insta 360 flow pro now
I've got the osmo action 3 when riding my motorbike over 1000miles with the 3 and I love it. I have several episodes on my channel. I'm still thinking why I should upgrade to 5pro
Hello I am noticing that on all videos done by all youtubers the clouds have no definition and are like one big cloud Why is this happening when on action 4 the clouds looks nicer , or it can be arranged in post ? Thanks
You seem like a nice guy and I see you have a popular channel but I have to ask you is every reviewer for this camera in the pocket of DJI. No mention of the picture ruining 60 Mb per second low quality bit rate more than half of the DJI 4 action 4 and GoPro. If you happen to stumble across an honest reviewer, they’ll tell you about the artifacts and compression we want a better picture not a worse one how could you do a review like this and have it all be positive and not mention the negative. The major negative so I won’t be subscribing because you’re in too good of a mood, and in the pocket of DJI. If you look up the popular CIneD review, they put it on the table.
Sorry man. Everything that I said is my own opinion after testing it out, DJI had no say in this video and I actually bought my own camera when it came out. Also, the bitrate is not half of the Action 4, I have to double check again but I remember for the same shots they were the same or in some cases slightly lower but footage looks better in the Action 5 and that’s what matters at least to me. I could care less if it’s being done by AI or an alien technology. Looks better? I’ll take it. So thanks for not subscribing!
@@OttoJulian_ Did DJI give you a camera? I know the specs. If you shoot at 30P which is the most popular frame rate it's 60mbps. I know that. Like you I'm an action camera expert. GO pro and Action 4 shoot at 130 MBPS. I talked to DJI and they said an update in about 2 weeks will help l alot in the bit rate dept.If not mine is going back. How a reviewer could ignore this elephant in the room in my opinion is not a real review. You knew about but said nothing, I don't trust youtuber reviews anymore especially when it's a DJI product which I am a huge huge fan of. Anyhow sorry for the tude it just makes me mad. We count on you and that is a big let down.
@@sutv6754I took a look at your work tude dude, and decided not to subscribe to your channel. I think it's a bit premature of you to state "Like you I'm an action camera expert." Sorry, but you're no where near the scripting, shooting, and editing skill level of Otto. So, pipe down junior.
@sutv6754 read my last comment again I bought my own camera. What is there not to understand. I don’t shoot 30fps and like I said, footage looks good to me and I’m pretty obsessed with that, otherwise I’d be making my videos with an iPhone or a GoPro like most people do instead of a mirrorless camera with a good lens.
