I was flicking through the channels on the TV On a Sunday in Milwaukee in the rain Trying to piece together conversations Trying to find out where to lay the blame But when it comes right down to it there's no use trying to pretend For when it gets right down to it there's no one here that's left to blame Blame it on me, you can blame it on me We're just sugar mice in the rain I heard Sinatra calling me through the floorboards Where you pay a quarter for a partnership in rhyme To the jukebox crying in the corner While the waitress is counting out the time For when it comes right down to it there's no use trying to pretend For when it gets right down to it there's no one really left to blame Blame it on me, you can blame it on me We're just sugar mice in the rain 'Cause I know what I feel, know what I want I know what I am Daddy took a raincheck 'Cause I know what I want, know what I feel I know what I need Daddy took a raincheck, your daddy took a raincheck Ain't no one in here that's left to blame but me Blame it on me, blame it on me Well the toughest thing that I ever did was talk to the kids on the phone When I heard them asking questions I knew that you were all alone Can't you understand that the government left me out of work I just couldn't stand the looks on their faces saying, "What a jerk" So if you want my address it's number one at the end of the bar Where I sit with the broken angels clutching at straws and nursing our scars Blame it on me, blame it on me, Sugar mice in the rain, your daddy took a raincheck
I just wish steven would take singing the older back catalogue more seriously, you can tell the rest of the band still love that stuff playing their hearts out. Then is not singing, letting the crowd sing the whole song
" No Fish, no Marilion 😥 sugar mice, it's so sugar..one of the best emotional songs ever..love it, and my tears never ends..(original) Marillion best of..🤘
Ich blätterte durch die Kanäle auf dem Fernseher I was flicking through the channels on the TV An einem Sonntag in Milwaukee im Regen On a Sunday in Milwaukee in the rain Ich versuche, Gespräche zusammenzusetzen Trying to piece together conversations Ich versuche herauszufinden, wo die Schuld liegt Trying to find out where to lay the blame Aber im Grunde ist es sinnlos, etwas vorzutäuschen But when it comes right down to it there's no use trying to pretend Denn wenn es darauf ankommt, gibt es hier niemanden, der die Schuld trägt For when it gets right down to it there's no one here that's left to blame Geben Sie mir die Schuld, Sie können mir die Schuld geben Blame it on me, you can blame it on me Wir sind nur Zuckermäuse im Regen We're just sugar mice in the rain Ich hörte, wie Sinatra mich durch die Dielen rief I heard Sinatra calling me through the floorboards Wo Sie ein Viertel für eine Partnerschaft in Reim bezahlen Where you pay a quarter for a partnership in rhyme Zur Jukebox, die in der Ecke weint To the jukebox crying in the corner Während die Kellnerin die Zeit zählt While the waitress is counting out the time Denn im Grunde ist es sinnlos, etwas vorzutäuschen For when it comes right down to it there's no use trying to pretend Denn wenn es darauf ankommt, gibt es eigentlich niemanden mehr, der die Schuld trägt For when it gets right down to it there's no one really left to blame Geben Sie mir die Schuld, Sie können mir die Schuld geben Blame it on me, you can blame it on me Wir sind nur Zuckermäuse im Regen We're just sugar mice in the rain Denn ich weiß, was ich fühle, weiß, was ich will, ich weiß, was ich bin 'Cause I know what I feel, know what I want I know what I am Papa hat einen Regenscheck mitgenommen Daddy took a raincheck Weil ich weiß, was ich will, weiß, was ich fühle, ich weiß, was ich brauche 'Cause I know what I want, know what I feel I know what I need Papa hat einen Regencheck gemacht, dein Papa hat einen Regencheck gemacht Daddy took a raincheck, your daddy took a raincheck Es gibt hier niemanden außer mir, der die Schuld trägt Ain't no one in here that's left to blame but me Gib mir die Schuld, gib mir die Schuld Blame it on me, blame it on me Das Schwierigste, was ich je gemacht habe, war, mit den Kindern zu telefonieren Well the toughest thing that I ever did was talk to the kids on the phone Als ich hörte, wie sie Fragen stellten, wusste ich, dass du ganz allein warst When I heard them asking questions I knew that you were all alone Können Sie nicht verstehen, dass die Regierung mich arbeitslos gemacht hat? Can't you understand that the government left me out of work Ich konnte es einfach nicht ertragen, wie sie in ihren Gesichtern sagten: „Was für ein Idiot.“ I just couldn't stand the looks on their faces saying, "What a jerk" Wenn Sie also meine Adresse wollen, finden Sie sie unter der Nummer eins am Ende der Leiste So if you want my address it's number one at the end of the bar Wo ich mit den gebrochenen Engeln sitze, die sich an Strohhalme klammern und unsere Narben pflegen Where I sit with the broken angels clutching at straws and nursing our scars Gib mir die Schuld, gib mir die Schuld, Blame it on me, blame it on me, Zuckermäuse im Regen, dein Daddy hat einen Regenscheck mitgenommen Sugar mice in the rain, your daddy took a raincheck Quelle: LyricFind
Last time I saw Marillion (10yrs ag?) they played this. Crowd of Fish heads went mad and totally took over singing. Steve H was so pissed and showed it. There will only ever be one Fish. On Friday or whatever day. Best memory of him is him stroking his crotch whilst singing 'nursing an erection...' in front of a packed Hammersmith Odeon.
A time that unfortunately will not come back. A time when music said something, a time when music could connect people, a time that I was allowed to experience and that shaped me. A concert not to be forgotten, thanks Marillion, thanks Fish
Total class from beginning to end. Lucky enough to have seen them twice, Birmingham and Nottingham just before Fish left. Both fantastic nights, etched on the brain, thanks lads.
White mice, i remember or heard it means the White chocolate mice you bought at sweetshop where i come from in 80`s obviously a little deeper in meaning, fish/marillion live just like a night at the opera😀, feelings and such things ( not for ladies, live mostly Blokes😎)
