This way of you listening to an album for the first time the way you do it is really a good format. Kudos to you! And WHAT an album. Reconer is my pearl amongst the gold.
Love your narration and commentary. Audio mixing of your voice was perfectly leveled with music; as I increased volume your voice never became overpowering over the music.
One of the best producers alive unquestionably, so talented. Phantasmagoria absolutely blows this out of the water however, one of the best electronic albums ever.
Absolute classic album - OK Computer, Kid A and In Rainbows are their top tier but you gotta hear A Moon Shaped Pool even just for the absolutely knockout Daydreaming.
It's like stepping inside a burgundy colored corduroy cave. It's dark but you feel this red light envelop you and its warm and nice but you're still left with an emptiness inside your heart. It's bitter sweet and it makes you happy but rips out your heart at the same time. And that's the closest I've gotten to put what I feel for this band and this album into words...
Watching someone listen to this full album for the first time? prob one of my favorite albums of all time Andrea with the lap steel & Last Lost Continent with its build up are pure storytelling. Last Lost they build the riff up at the end slowly piece by piece. Never seen that done before. Scream singing in my car on an hour drive home to this album every week.
Blind Pilot is my favorite band of all time. I just saw them in July and I'm traveling to Michigan to see them again in February. The reaction just started, so I hope you enjoy it!
So glad to see some more Blind Pilot fans out there!! Saw them live for the very first time in June or July and it was incredible. Cant wait for Doug to check out Like Lions, but that one is gonna be in the queue probably around winter, submitted some other bands for the time being
what a blast!! As an OG TMV fan, that was a great reaction. I had a lot of fun enjoying that with you! You pretty much TOTALLY get it, welcome to the forum.
I saw these guys open for System of a Down in Cleveland in 2005. Best show I've probably ever seen live. The energy on the stage (from both bands) was incredible.
This is epic ground breaking for music, social commentary, AND for recording technique while utilizing all the instrumental resources of HITSVILLE Motown recording studios. Some of the conga & bongo playing was done by Marvin himself. The overlapping of his own vocals was also a new thing. The master of soul Motown bass playing James Jamerson as such a major part of the orchestrating the vibe, in addition to foundation. It’s necessary to trace Marvin’s journey as an international treasure & pillar of American music, vocally, socially & musically. Check his soundtrack score to the movie, Trouble Man, his ‘60’s collaborations with the late gone too soon fem vocalist, Tami Terrell, who’s death he never got over, & ven his incredible vibe in Heard It Through The Grapevine.
Asap Rocky has always done music that is far ahead of it's time. That's why you can listen to one of his old albums today and feel like it was recorded recently. He has talked about this because sometimes he doesn't get immediate praise for his work, he gets it years later.
