i had no idea zeolite was regenerative. being that it adsorbs and not absorbs, i thought the zeolite would be similar to calcium hydroxide and stuck with the byproduct. what temperature does the zeolite release the CO2? and how is the unit in its entirety sealed for the vacuuming extraction phase?? edit: i see the dampeners being used as valves. that's the plan to hold a vacuum? i don't see that holding much pressure by then again im not an HVAC guy
also, what kind of heating element do you plan on using that will be inside the sorbent area with that filter media? wont that easily catch on fire? i didn't see anything on the heating side
That same 3 GT of bio mass could be used better as a fuel stock for electricity or fuels or at the verry least converted to bio char and used asa fertiliser
Great question! We have thought about this very application. We are in the process of refining the successor to Violet, Epiphyte. Should have a working model by July 4th. It's open source, and with some partners at a university or maker space, you could build your own. Take a look here. Links to our weekly stream right in there. Check us out! epiphyte.my.canva.site/
I would like to hear an explanation of how the activated photoacid can cause the seawater to release CO2 without mixing the photoacid and the seawater together. I didn't really understand the part about protons moving from the photoacid to the seawater and back even though they're kept separate.
This has helped me learn a great deal, thank you! Currently looking and interviewing to get into CDR Analysis at companies that value transparency, although I personally have an e-commerce data background.
I like the chemistry exercise it is valid, but deployment and distribution will be very energy intensive do not see plans to spread out across the earth and difuse slowly the Alkalinity enhancement. like in a Saltwater Aquarium adding too much in one location will not diffuse quick enough to not kill other things. how will the vast quantities require to be dispersed evenly and over what period as to no-kill existing sea life?
Hi there Here is a concept I have been posting online recently Its a global carbon tax , Where the polluters pay $ too The United Nations Global Carbon Fund UNGCF Then they distribute funds 10 billion yearly to 195 countries and territories Throughout the globe, leaving 50 billion for the UN to administer and regulate this scenario allowing us to truly fight climate change 40 GT co2 @ 50$ per tn = 2 trillion per year Take this to COP and demand action this year We need a global carbon tax and we need it now. The time for talk, BLA BLA BLA is over The planet is at a tipping point, It can't wait, Time to stand up and make a legend of yourself. Vote as one and please pass this bill Worldwide carbon tax @ 20 % carbon tariff should apply to all greenhouse gas polluters Eg 20 % on a barrel of oil Eg 20 % on a Tn of coal Eg 20 % on a kg of meat Eg 20 % on, a Tn cement produced, Eg 20 % on a Tn Steel produced. EG 20 on a tn of coal produced Etc. Etc. ETC Carbon tax worldwide Paid to a central carbon fund UNGCF. Administered and regulated by the United Nations Global Carbon Fund. UNGCF fund A 20 %of total sales of greenhouse gas Emitteing, polluters should pay for the mess Creating a yearly fund of 2 trillion dollars 40 GT @ 50$ per tn = 2 trillion per year That is 10 billion per year For 195 countries and territories, SO they can have any chance of reaching their net zero targets and fifty billion for the UNGCF, this will fund all the UN's global, humanitarian projects 2 trillion $$ per year For UNGCF 50 years That's 100 trillion dollars to repair climate change. That is less than 2% of the global yearly gross GDP, So we can build and create utility infrastructure for hundreds of years.I can't make it any simpler than that, please help your people These countries can utilize their funds to build the infrastructure required for a clean green future carbon capture and storage facilities, organic carbon sinks Research and development into CO2 reduction technology Atmospheric reduction strategy Ocean reduction strategies The polluters must pay the free ride must end, and everyone should receive, This is a global problem and requires a global solution, all working together as one. Absolutely. T www.theglobalgorilla.com
Can you explain which rules my previous comment broke that has caused you to delete it? Or are you just in the practice of deleting uncomfortable truths?
it's a DAC or a Direct Air Capture device for CO2. sucks in air with CO2 and goes through an absorption process with a chemcial sorbernt that when heated releases the C02 and probably regenerates the sorbent also releaseses humidity and the CO2. CO2 must be captured and separated off. then the DAC releases air that has been "scrubbed" of its CO2.

The US Biochar Initiative can help with liability biomass processing opportunities. There are a number of resources identified on our website. Low to mid-tech opportunities include Big Box Biochar (invented by Darren McAvoy from Utah State University), Ring of Fire kiln, and air curtain technologies like the CharBoss.
😮 Zero understanding of CDR double-counting, or even the difference between CCS & CDR. No, if you're not accounting for your full life cycle emissions, it's not CDR, it's CCS (i.e., mitigation, not carbon removal)!!

Highly inspiring project and presentation by Shantanu Agarwal, as well as a great job of hosting! I have been advocating the use of rock dust for soils, forests and climate at Remineralize the Earth for decades, and I now look out for all the episodes related to enhanced weathering to report on our website. I'm so glad to see your cutting edge interviews on research, projects and companies as well as student and community involvement.

Have you ever heard of plants? Not only do they bind carbon, remove CO2 from the atmosphere and generate oxygen, but they feed people and they are free.
Plants. Love 'em. But not enough scale to meet the carbon removal volumes required this century. IPCC, NASEM estimate that 40% of total CDR needed can be delivered through forests + organic soil carbon. And purely bio-based CDR has real weaknesses when it comes to durability, permanence, and verification. Further, the changing climate is in fact altering and even reversing the natural efficacy of forests to draw down and store carbon. A very recent summary of this reality from DWW in the NYT - www.nytimes.com/2023/09/06/opinion/columnists/forest-fires-climate-change.html
@@openaircollect Plants have been doing this for millions of years including times when the CO2 levels were considerably higher than today. What is the emergency? Also, plants don't care about computer models.
@@openaircollect It is in the nature of climate to change, so nobody is arguing that the climate has stopped changing. It is also true that nature recycles absolutely everything. As a side effect of that, every natural process tends toward balance. The larger the process, the more stable. So it remains unproven that man's burning of hydrocarbons is the dominant force behind the changes that we are witnessing.
@@richardknouse618 sorry, plants have NOT been sequestering massive amounts of CO2 from the atmosphere that were very rapidly put there by human activities in a very short period of time - carbon that had remained out of the carbon cycle and buried under ground for millions of years. What you are not factoring in your "trees already do this" argument is the scale of carbon.removal that is required, and the timeframe in which it needs to be achieved, and then asking yourself the question "do forests and soils fit that job description?" Please do. An analogy: Yes, horses are a mode of transportation that can move people and things over distances. But if the job you need performed is to move hundreds of thousands of containers across the ocean in 6 months, you're not going to pick horses to do that. Please share any sources that show that we can remove 10G of CO2 per year by 2050 with forests.
