My number 1 go to and most successful bait for the Cubera is the 6-inch Yo-Zuri Bull Pop. Sardine colour seems to attract the most hits, for me anyway. Here's a video showing most of the baits we use. I'll be shooting an updated one soon which will include some of the other lures we use: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CSROXEtzods.html
Hey Shaun, my gf and I met you and Jodi in Cayo Coco just last week. I told you I'd like & subscribe and here I am haha. Also, got a quick story for you. So I dunno if ypu remember us telling you guys that we were going to rent a scooter and ride to Pilar Beach. But we did and the night before we were all talking about Ernest Hemingway, remember? Haha anyway, we were coming up on the bridge leading to Cayo Guillermo where the statues are. We had no idea they were there and the first statue you can see from a distance and coming from Cayo Coco it looks like a soldier holding a hand gun 😆. My gf was on the back of the scooter squeezing my ribs saying "omg Jamie, slow down, slow down" and all i can think is "oh shit, I'm about to take 2 in the chest" 😆😂. Then of course we get closer and realize they are statues. We both then changed our underwear.... haha not really. But yeah, the first thing i thought about afterwards was you talking about Ernest Hemmingway the night before 😂. Great videos Shaun, keep up the good work! ✌️
Good. This happens to me since I was a kid. I just don’t understand how no one can comprehend the navigable waterways regulations/laws. When I took my “safe boating” license course thing was mandatory after it was implemented in the 90’s you would figure the “marina” owners would & should know all about the fundamentals of boating. And that’s even more scary thinking someone who has no clue about what they are doing driving some of those money pits. They probably don’t even know that sailboats always have the right of way no matter what. That was the 1st thing I was schooled on when I was 6. Grew up in New England on the water fyi. People don’t take kindly to getting educated. It affects their ego. Probably most people just do whatever they say never question anything. Basically bend the knee for no reason. Screw that!
Did you catch the grey mutton snapper on an Okuma Nomad Inshore M-MH? I’m looking at buying this rod used for my next Cuba trip and wondering how you find it?
A friend and I fish the same area with the same boat and captain. Always fun and catch a number of great fish, loose a number of fish and lures. This year we are using a steel line between the Fluorocarbon and the bait in hopes of reducing losses. Enjoy watch your shows and we hope to be doing our own in few weeks.
I bring all 7ft 1-piece St. Croix Mojo inshore rods, heavy and medium/heavy action, I prefer not to use break down rods. If you fly Sunwing, they now charge $75 each way for a 7ft Bazooka rod case, which is what I use to transport my 9 rods. I also buy and extra checked suitcase for all my reels, tackle boxes/lures and tools etc, Sunwing charge $70 each way for the extra case, up to 23KG in weight.
Private docks, marinas and even waterfront property owners who think they own the water in and around their structure and property line are hysterical. Nobody “owns” navigable water. Makes for funny content on RU-vid though!
Did you guys fish at all from the beach? I'm going in December/ January. Do I need to set up a trip before I get down there or can I just bead to the marina and hire a boat? Nice video !
This is the best and most informative cuba fishing video there is🤝thank you! I was wondering how you transported your rods to Cuba? I’m from Canada and going to cuba in january. Was transporting equipment easy? Thanks in advance! I appreciate it
I was fishing along a pier on a lake and a woman came out on the pier and asked if I was catching her fish, she told me she owned the fish under the dock. she even went on to tell me how she fed her fish each day. I thought it was humous and when I caught one I looked at both sides of the fish and responded "I don't see a name on this fish so it must not be your fish" she stomped off and that was the end of it
I am 110% pro cop but at the moment he rude smirked when you made mention of her Sportsmen Harrassment that she was doing.... i went full in "Fuck that cop right there. That one is a dick!!!"
anything bite in cuba,,full of fish,,bring what ever you have ,,it will works,,make sure you have 20lb line minimum,,bunch of lurres ,no metal leader ,you will catch all day ,dont pay charter,,charter its for looser ,,from the beach,,walk ,go in water,,rocks,,grass,,enjoy,,cuba for tourist,,cuban not allowed to fish,,lucky tourist,,cuban can't eat,,go enjoy ,,you will catch bunch of fish and make video your a professional now,,lolll
I wouldn't have shown them shit. They had no reason to check me. Let's make it happen in court. The waterway is legal to fish. The police can fuck off.
I'm a Christian, and I can't hold back on this one, officer you are in the wrong, and what I think is you are being paid off, you officer is a waste of payroll, and I pray you find the Lord before it is to late. God bless you all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, amen.
Why are you take the fishes in the boat with a gaff when you want to release them? You should better use a big lip grip, net or hand landing at the tail. Hammering wholes in the head with the gaff and then release ist definitely not the beat option…
Ive fished cayo coco and the pedraplen back in 1999. We fished areas that had never seen a lure. Amazing places. Im not sure you needed to travel so far on boat to catch fish but its good you did so we can see it.
All states are different. Some states you lease the area from BLM and you put up a water break around the marina and that is privet but you can still fish in there
