This flew over my house today in Tacoma. I couldn't belive my eyes. it was still kinda low and really loud. I tracked it on flightracker for a while looks like it was heading toward California.
Yep they are heading to El Paso, TX. Glad you got to see it! I've yet to catch one flying or even starting up. The other air worth one DOC was under maintenance last time I say it a few years back.
Oh she needs a repaint, but still a fantastic aeroplane. XM605 is from 44 Squadron RAF Waddington England almost spent all her flying days at that base. Then flown to her now resting place In CA. Im ex RAF based some of my time at Waddington I will have walked around her. We did have a Vulcan XH558 back in flying condition sadly she was grounded for good in 2015. Vulcan XL426 still functions to do taxi runs, but can't ever take off, XM655 just does static engine runs both in the UK. Thanks for sharing the video its good to see where the old girls are around the world.
Thanks for the write up! It is such a cool looking aircraft and I too am glad there is at least one preserved state side to check out. I'd love to hear one start up though so good to know that still happens for some that were saved. I remember reading about one at a museum took off during a high speed pass when it wasn't supposed too. Aircraft just want to fly. The museum was in the process of repainting some of the aircraft while I was there. Not sure if they will do all of them though.
@@trip-clips The aircraft that took off when it should'nt have was another of our British V Bombers a Victor not a Vulcan. Thanks for the update hope she gets a fresh coat of paint. I climbed inside one last week at the Coventry Air Museum, UK Its a static disply also could do with a re paint but things cost money. If you search Vulcan howl, videos of them on full power amazing sound. During the 80's several Vulcan squadron aircraft visited the USA in compititions.
Thanks for the correction as it's been a while since I've seen the video about it. The howl videos are great though in person would've been quite an experience. Same with seeing a whole squadron stopping by for a visit. One day I'll make it to the UK to check out as much as I can. I'll post an update if I see the Vulcan is in line to be painted. They were working on painting the aircraft at the front of the lot. It is close and it is one of the ones visible from the roadside so that may help the chances too.
@@trip-clipsI think I read in Jablonski’s book Flying Fortress that the guy in charge at Kingman, AZ had been a plant manager and when he saw 5 Grand, he looked for his name where he signed it and it was gone. He sent 5 Grand to be scrapped. I’d have written my name on it where it had been and saved the airframe for posterity, but the fact this guy just had it scrapped tells us a lot about what kind of plant manager he’d been during the war, the kind where his subordinates scrubbed his name off.
One of the best parts about White Rock. We used to park in the westernmost parking lot with a cup of coffee, and watch the trains rumble by. The scenery there is stunning, one of our favourite in the world.
I was only there for a couple hours but it was such a nice place. Will need a lot more time to check it out. The Amtrak was the only train I saw that day. I was using the Amtrak train tracker to find out where it was so I didn't miss it pass by.
Gorgeous airplane. The F18 really looks fast and aggressive with the angled vertical stabilizers. I bet you theres someone who checks every so often to make sure the tires arent flat. It would be a bad look. Also looks like a 102 Delta Dagger on the right in the beginning. Also Delta Dart and Thud at 0:23 on the right. love that F4. I also spy a Super Sabre, Voodoo, F16, B36, etc. What a cool collection.
Most likely that is the culprit. I do not believe the Vancouver facility could fix it so the train mostly likely had to go back to Seattle thumping along like that. I too am curious what the ride was like inside.
They have a nice selection of engines and railroad cars there. The station has a few different museums in it too so that is worth checking out as well.
