My name is Matthias Speicher. I'm from Switzerland and I run one of the biggest Skoda ENYAQ communities on RU-vid. Because here on this channel all ENYAQ iV drivers and those who want to become ENYAQ drivers get together. May your waiting time become more bearable through my videos. Whatever you want to know about the Skoda ENYAQ, you'll find it here!
I look forward to your comments, suggestions, wishes and criticism. Just write them to me under the videos, LinkedIn or by e-mail. I look forward to the dialogue with you!
I have an Enyaq Coupe 85 with software version 5.2 (according to the app 5.0), hope I get 5.4 soon because the speed warning annoys me as the sign recognition is often wrong. You have the best video about the Elroq, none of the other reviews I saw mentioned what is new in the software and what they fixed like the scratchy gloss black, or didn't fix like the reflection in the windscreen.
I have ordered the Enyaq 85X, however this car would have suited me fine, Skoda in my view are pushing forwards faster than the competitors, well done Skoda
Hi. Nice presentation of the elroq. What I also would like to hear is the comparison between Enyaq and Elroq. Listen to your video, it sounds like it is only a matter of size. But Enyaq is a higher segment isn't it? I would like to hear more about this. Thank you
As soon as possible I will do such a comparison. Was not possible because they only showed the ELROQ in the studio to me so I could not place my ENYAQ beside the ELROQ ;)
My wife wants a smaller car. Why only 150mm shorter than the Enyaq? I think in the uk prices from £30,000 is too high. The Chinese are coming with very interesting EV’s at far better pricing.
I like the front and the interior. I don't like the black plastic parts below the doors and around the wheels as well as the backside bumper. I hope that the Sportline version will have these in colour. I currently own a Karoq with also all the black plastic. Don't want it again. Thanks for showing us the Elroq! 💪
Had to choose two cars out of three and decided not picking sport line but you can see a blue sport line in other videos of the ELROQ. Unfortunately you will find the same plastic parts on the SportLine
@@electrifiedspeicher I found it indeed and unfortunately it is. That's too bad as I don't like the plastic parts....the Karoq also has the Sportline and there it is not like that. Not sure why Skoda did not make the difference here. I'll check it out in real life somewhere this year. Let's see.
Very nice - but we still have a big bright screen right in the driver's peripheral vision at night - The first thing I do on long night journeys is turn it right down or even cover it... turning it off is very irritating when all the controls are on the screen instead of on real buttons but I prefer not to have my night vision ruined for the narrow fast lanes we have here.
Especially now, when the famed winged arrow basically celebrates 100th birthday. The shot through chicken (also known as the half of the wings) was first penned by manager in Pilsen, Tomáš Maglič, in 1923, first used 1925, systematically used since 1926. Laurin and Klement was bought by Škoda in 1925, Nazism and communism divided them again, they didn't reunite. VW's Škoda and the biggest Škoda companies in Pilsen agreed to share the logo and around 2009, the Pilsner folks suggested they no longer needed it. Under the PPF ownership, this promise was turned into a joke because the trams, trolley buses from Škoda Transportation have the logo everywhere you look! So it seems we are going in the exact opposite direction than agreed, the Pilsner companies will depend on the logo more than the VW's subsidiary.
Face design and light signature is boring. Looks like many other new cars with split headlights. You commented on the turning circle. Isen the turning angle and wheel base the same as Enyaq? But you are used to an awd Enyaq with a bigger turning circle. Ise6nt that why you noticed it?
I have a '21 Enyaq 80 with 21" wheels, heat pump and a good spec in predictable silver. I ordered as soon as the books opened in November '20 and the wait until July '21 was painful! Still a great car, holds it's own among the competition today. Enjoy!
So, basically we are looking at a downsized Enyaq. Similar design, same platform, identical interior, same (basically problematic) software. Nothing really new. The same width is an issue in my opinion. Spacious inside, but problematic in tight parking spaces. People looking for a compact car might be put off because of that. The Elroq will attract a new buyer category though as long as it stays competitive, now other good EV’s are introduced at similar pricing levels.
I would not say that the ELROQ is more noisy in the interior than my own ENYAQ. Maybe it was due to the wet test track that it sound louder. I would say ENYAQ and ELROQ don't have much differences here
Great first look, Matthias. The Elroq looks very nice, with many nice features. However, the trunk is too small for us, so we'll keep our Enyaq :-) But as a second , more city friendly car, it could be a hit (if you need it ) . Good job and looking forward to seeing more Elroq (and Enyaq) videos from you
I’ve had my Enyaq Sportline 85X for two months now and love it. This Elroq would have done though. I’m single and 65, so I don’t really need such a big car, but I wanted space inside. Perhaps, when I change in 3 years, I’ll have an Elroq. Or perhaps whatever the enyaq has become by then.
Great talk Mathias, you hit all the nails perfectly right. Now I understand that immediate changes won't happen, but still I expect thats you should get a formal feedback from the board if they thought it would be wise to invite you to talk. Now from a personal perspective, skoda has lost me as a customer, and next eV will be from the a different brand
It cannot be sustained charging. As soon as MySkoda app said that 80 % has been reached I went out and unplugged the charging cable. Then I checked the charge level in the car and it said 85. %.
I have the same issue with my Enyaq 2024 RS. Mine charge to 85 %. The MySkoda app stops charging @ 80 %, but when I go into the car it says that the charge level is 85 % instead of 80 %.
A year ago I was on the verge of ordering an Enyaq and the only reason why I didn't was because I didn't get any good answers from Škoda regarding their software. However, my concerns with the software are different from yours. I agree with many of your points e.g. when it comes to route planning it is essential that you can filter the charging providers with regard to things like payment methods etc. I can charge where they accept bank cards and/or my OKQ8 card, but I don't want to be directed to a charging stop that requires payment using an app that I can't download to my smartphone (many apps are unavailable to us who don't have access to Google Play nor Apple App Store). A good in-car system for navigation and route planning would be a good thing, when you need it. However, for the most part I don't want the car to be connected at all, I just want a vehicle that works with a minimum of fuss, tracking and security issues (e.g. www.wired.com/story/kia-web-vulnerability-vehicle-hack-track/). I realize that a certain degree of connectivity makes sense in an EV because you need to be able to plan routes that include charging stops. I do, however, want to turn all those connected features off most of the time i.e. when commuting in well known territory. Also, I hope they didn't listen too closely when you told them not to listen to their customers. I get your point and maybe that makes sense from a business perspective if you are going after a mass market, but I would like to think that there are some niches for manufacturers who combine common sense with a sensitivity to their customers' preferences. I'm currently driving my third Škoda (a MY2013 Octavia) and the reason why I'm looking to buy a Škoda EV is that their previous models have been practical and not over the top jam packed with the latest bells and whistles. Physical buttons for the most important settings are essential and a dog mode would be very nice, but I don't want to have to use an app for anything important. I don't mind too much if Škoda uses some very limited tracking (such as which settings are used) but I object strongly to any 3rd party sharing of such data. And I certainly don't want any subscription services. If some customers want to subscribe to extra services then that's fine, but all the basic functionality must be included in the car itself. Who knows whether a manufacturer will be around to provide services in 10-15 years? And if they are still in business, will it be worth their while to support their old models?
You can correct me if I'm wrong, but it's probably a must that all "old" Enyaqs end up at the same level (ME 3.7) before any major updates can be made. It is not reasonable to think that you make different variants of the software so that it will fit. That's how it works with upgrading other software. I really hope that is Skoda's (VAG) goal to do in order to come up with updates that make a difference in the future.
That's right. They need to get the majority of SW 3 ENYAQ to 3.7 first (they will never catch em all but most of them. 3.7 is a mandatory update when going to the service). Right now they started updating the 3.6 OTA and hopefully they will update 3.2, 3.4, 3.5 OTA also soon
Great presentation you made some really good points about the lack of the air s/w updates. I too find it very frustrating that certain things could be fixed i.e. remote boot unlocking in my country is disabled (no idea why); the adaptive cruise control/auto pilot is borderline dangerous when it speeds up and slows quite hard and has almost caused an accident; ev charger cap not opening and requiring me to lock/unlock the car to get it too release; the automatic insert of charge points doesn't seem too smart. But loving your channel really great videos. Cheers.
Really nice presentation! But to be fair, I minimize the use of in car software. Even in the Tesla I prefer to use Waze in combination with ABRP. Somehow the in car navigation is extremely conservative and you arrive with a much higher State of charge which slows your charging experience considerably. I try to reach a station around 5%, while most in car solutions got for >10%. The top 3 improvements for me are more range(get the pro S battery from ID7), an app akin to Tesla and more manual buttons like new SuperB. 1 other bonus would be charge port on both sides. Charging at 185kw peak already sufficient, the Hyundai/KIA solution is not a lot faster then I am. On average it saves 3 to 4 minutes as my longest fast charge stops are 17 minutes on long road trip. I would need Porsche Taycan level of speed to go from 17 minutes to 10 minutes...
Matthias, thank you so much for this video! I'm very sad that we couldn't meet at the EV lounge meeting because we had a flood risk in my town. I'm really glad that you represent our "small-big" community of Enyaq owners. :) You are doing a very good job! I really enjoy watching your videos and I hope that maybe in a year we will meet in Mladá Boleslav. You are my favorite influencer :-) Sincerely, many thanks!
@Electrified Speicher: I love your story and can feel with you. Had very similar experiences with ID4. Finally I dropped that car after 6 month of frustration. It's just an instance of VW's problems. I truly do hope, that the people you talked to did listen carefully and start acting to resolve it. Still, this is will take very long. It is great that you had the chance at all to present this.
Absolutely fantastic presentation, Mathias! It hits the nail on the head. I have been a happy Danish Enyaq owner since June 2021, but I have also been through the entire range of emotions with Skoda due to the lack of communication and the primitive software which only barely survives basic tasks without exciting anyone. I've seen most of your videos, but this presentation to Skoda's board is the best post I've seen to date because it's both honest feedback to the people behind the Enyaq - and most importantly: contains a number of possible solutions to restore customers' trust in Skoda. I hope they listened with action in mind. Bravo Mathias! And thank you 🙏🏻
