Welcome to the Man Cave Meals RU-vid channel! I have been making BBQ and grilling videos since 2011. In late 2020, I decided to re-vamp this channel to include playlists that encompass ALL of my video content since I have been making content for Kamado Joe and Atlanta Grill Company as well. As of now, all of my video content is available through the playlists that are a part of this channel. Thanks for stopping by!
Hey, John! Great video as always. I got the 2 probe Chef IQ last month and so far I really like it. I actually went to the grocery store during a cook and it was cool to never lose connection. My only complaint so far is that after only a couple of cooks the numbers on the probes are almost gone. I can figure it out by just turning both on and holding one in my hand to get a temperature difference. One thing I haven't tried yet is using them on the JoeTisserie - kinda nervous that the probe will fall out during the cook, but I'll give it a try and see what happens.
Nice video John. I’ve been cooking on the Big Joe and Traeger for years. Love your KJ content! Looking to take the next step and hopefully make this my last pellet grill purchase ever . Ps. Love the VH5150 shelf cover🤘🏻
Sugar and fat added at the wrap ruins smoked baby backs imo. Too many extra calories. Straight or with some coke and vinegar spray only. That's unless you over cook them during smoking. Then some butter helps moisten.
@@ManCaveMeals There is the "Basket" that naturally hangs level, but I found the one that is stationary above the grates against the back wall of the grill: Weber 7513 Warming Rack The one that is above that is the basket: Weber 80641 in other words, I figured out the Weber OEM parts I needed 👍🏼. Grill On Brother!
I'm sure you could but most folks don't wanna pack the rack that tightly because it limits the airflow around the meat. If you find yourself not wanting to cook one on the top and one on the bottom, i'd buy the larger version of the smoker.
@ManCaveMeals can you smoke 1 on top and 1 on bottom ok or would you recommend the larger one and putting 2 briskets on top? I'm so confused on 24 vs 36 size. :(
Traeger Pro22 or this Asmoke? Not sure if paying more for name brand without updated features of this one? This one on sale through home depot for $399 right now.
Tough question... I think both are similar in food output quality. The water feature on this ASMOKE is really irrelevant in my opinion. I don't see that it adds anything at all to the cook. In a showdown I would buy the Traeger if it was a choice between the two simply because Traeger is a very reputable company and they have been a round a long time.
So, because of the amazing deal, I went with the Asmoker 700. Running my first brisket and I can't seem to keep the temp down anywhere below 200. Did you have any issues with the display temp being 15-30 degrees higher than what you selected on the dial? If so, how did you handle? Thanks for sharing your info on this grill.
I can’t get over that pellet smoker and the job it does. That dish looked pretty darn good. I never would’ve thought to add grits with beef, but being from South Georgia, I was raised on grits and I love short ribs, what could go wrong? Not a damn thang 😆 great cook man!
Home Depot says $769 normal price. On sale for $399 - no way is anything like this worth the big tag - but for $400 - I’m excited to do some cooking and won’t be too worried if it dies in a year like my last grill.
John do you any advice for warming up a kamado with the Fireboard? I can’t get it to settle even remotely close to my target temp. It’s always 50-75 degrees over and I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Starter cube lit for a couple of minutes, put deflectors in place, set the top vent and turn Fireboard on. Fan is at 10%. Any changes to that?
I noticed the front shelf on the Lone Star! Very nicely done. Would love to see those other grills. I'm ordering a Lone Star and was considering a custom logo plate with the logo of the mighty VH. :)
I just got mine home and have the same question. Mine came with a paper that showed their “superior all natural with no additives pellets” - then a metal plate that fits under the igniter for use with the “inferior” pellets. How do I know mine need the plate or not?
Evening John. Another beautiful cook sir. You know I’ve watched you cook for years now. Back to when you had a black Kamado Joe. You’ve always been straight up with you cooks, methods and grill choices. I’m curious as to what led you to Lone Star grill’s? Just so everyone doesn’t think I’m asking out the back side. I’ve got two KJ’s and three Recteqs. Your talent and attention to detail is absolutely amazing. But just curious sir?
It produces smoke better than any other pellet grill i have used. Its as good as my kamados without question. My kamado grills arent seeing as much action since this grill arrived.
They say the camp chef woodwind pro series produce more smoke flavor then the LSGs but I really love them LSGs they have consistent heat, smoke, and thickest metal in the game
@@Gunny_1775 the only way the CC is gonna make more smoke than the LSG is if you constantly feed it wood chunks in the smoker box.. you would need to do that every 30/40 minutes throughout the entire cook.
John, do you have any experience with the. Lone star stick burners? The look pretty great but I would like to know your thoughts on them. I bought a kj years ago and really enjoyed your cooks.
Have fun John! I hope one day you will consider reviving the live chat, even if it’s a random, when you feel like it event. But I understand why you would stop doing it.
Thanks Brian. If I do it will be on some free platform where I'm not having to spend money to do it. I hate Facebook's livestreaming platform, but it's free. It's really limited compared to the Streamyard I have been using.
