Welcome to my RU-vid channel. I review photography, filming and production gear from a wide variety of manufacturers. I regularly look for new and interesting gear to review that I hope you find interesting and I also try to produce content that will help towards your purchasing decisions.

It's hardly a compact camera. When I was growing up a compact camera was an automatic 35mm point and shoot camera designed to fit in a pocket to make it convenient to travel with. Its a shame camera companies no longer make small, micro 4/3 or aps-c cameras anymore. I became frustrated waiting so have purchased a Samsung nx500. It may be ten years old but its very impressive - 28mp apsc sensor in a camera smaller than most. It more than holds its own today with some very impressive specs. Try and get your hands on one Bob and pair it with a pancake lens like 30mm f2 for a super portable and powerful outfit. I am hoping for a micro 4/3 version of the Panasonic S9 - I can only imagine how enjoyable that camera would be.
great camera... but its main drawback is that in every 4k mode is barely usable on out doors sunny days... ive got it over heated many times while shooting 4k with in less than 15 minutes
I was very happy with my OM1 until this last weekend it bricked when I simply changed lenses, both olympus pro. I am left wondering how reliable will it be if I spend the $ to send it in to be "reset". Why cant there be some hidden button for a hard reset? I had this camera about 18 months, now I have an artifact.
Dear Bob, would this still be a valid camera in 2024. I am thinking about buying one with the 14-140 as a lightwheight modern alternative to my Nikon D300s. Or would it be better to buy the OM 5?
To mitigate the on off switch ennoyance you can find in the options an auto sleep functions, set it on the fastest and you will save a ton of battery on top of that.
I'm looking to move up from my ntg2 soon. I like the sound but the floor noise (hiss) is really loud compared comparable to the floor noise of the old Rode iPhone lapel mic. Really hissy. I'm looking for soothing I can used to get wild sound for my animation. The hissing is really annoying me now I've got a good studio micm
Is he blind?? The Ricoh is *way* sharper and crisper than the Sony. But a GREAT photo is about an interesting subject, composition and storytelling so ultimately the Sony is more versatile and in the right hands will get more great photos (albeit not as sharp/crisp ones). The Ricoh is the ultimate specialist street photography camera - it’s a bit limited for travel and hiking.
Which would I choose to use almost always on auto, please? I know there are cheaper cameras for such as me but the reviews I've seen indicate that one of these would do best for happy snaps on holiday, with my dogs, or scenery, or capturing informal socialising. Or will the GRIIIX be better?
I love mine so so much. It might not be perfect, but perfect for me. All the others are so big and heavy. And so expensive. I bout mine used. $200. USD
A couple of years ago I bought a Lumix GX9 because I was wanting a smaller camera and I love it! However, I recently saw a video of the GM1 and thought damn, now I want an even smaller camera! I found a beautiful blue colored GM1 on Ebay this afternoon with the 12-32 kit lens and it was too pretty not to purchase. Can't wait to get it!
Very good video. I just purchased the R100 and got it because of the fixed screen and non-touch screen, plus I don’t do video, so this camera fits my needs very well. Especially coming from many years of using the 5D Mk2 camera.
At some point I had my viltrox 75mm attached to a XS-20 (before the screen malfunctioned, so I sent it back), and yes, the images were fantastic! 🙂✌️ I miss that XS-20 a little bit actually.
Oh my god hideous Swindon I did my foundation course and used one of their cameras in the brunel shopping centre and cemetery there. God knows how many of those kind of photos the poor tutors had to shuffle through every year in those days.
