Between 1978 and 1986 I had a Kawasaki Z650C3 custom motorbike, and with my girlfriend on the back, went to see bands as often as possible. We saw Zeppelin, Rainbow, Deep Purple, Sabbath, Floyd, REO Speedwagon, Scorpions, Thin Lizzy, Marillion (with Fish) and loads of others. Music inevitably changes with each generation but I just miss those times and bands. Never actually got to see Magnum but played their stuff all the time - especially this one and "Don't wake the lion"
What a great track from an underrated album, took me a long time to get into this album but I’m glad I persevered. I much prefer this version to the re-recorded version. RIP Tony the legend Clarkin
I have yet to hear another vocalist sing with as much passion and heart. Ive been a fan since Sirens and can't get enough. Savatage is Metal. Savatage is life 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Quite surprising... I love this song, one of Magnum's best ever but it's the only one I love on this album. Well, I also like very much The Tall Ships ! But to each his own, as always. What matters is to enjoy this band which should have been more famous. I have always preferred the progressive, epic edge of Magnum, and their ballads. R.I.P. Tony Clarkin...
@@Marctull66completely disagree, the tall ships is a great track too and this version is far better than when they redone it and cut it by 3 minutes. Loses it meaning and atmosphere..
@@garethdavies9881I've been had some years ago because I thought there was a new version of Christmas Day that was as long as the original, and that they also released a shortened version.. Yet, the "other version" which is 7-mn-long that I heard just beside the edited one was just... the original ! I got "Rock Art" after hearing the song, indeed. it was one of the fews albums by the band that I missed back in 2011. so I got it wrong in the first place. I don't prefer the shortened version in the end, no. It wasn't a good idea, but it's that way... and, finally, I like The Tall Ships too, very much. I could have mentioned it. Maybe I don't actually love it but it's another song on Rock Art that I would select if I ever did a compilation of Magnum's songs (that would be a quadruple CD, probably !) . I do listen to this album from time to time, nonetheless.
@@Marctull66 haha I’m the same if I tried to do a compilation it would definitely be more than two discs. I’m thinking of getting a cd recorder to do this.
@@garethdavies9881 : Oh, do they exist still ? I used to have a very expensive' one by Pioneer but it had problems, with the 3 CD charger... a pity, as it had a great sound. I must add that some of the recordable audio CD's that I recorded don't play anymore now... Nowadays, I use my desktop computer to burn CDR's, have done this way for over 10 years, I must say. and we can create compilations from the wav files extracted from the original CD's... But you need a computer with a CD / DVD burner, of course. I've got one that's 5-year-old, with a DVD-R and CD-R burner. my burned CDR's seem stable at least, although I didn't burn many (mostly to please some friends) and the CDR's aren't expensive... I am buying some albums on files from independant artists sometimes, when the real physical product isn't available (sad times, really) and I burn a CDR. Good luck !

I had this album twice, first time on cassette and second time on CD. Definitely their best album i think though i love Hall Of The Mountain King and Gutter Ballet.
Someday when I finally achieve room temperature, I'll try to climb up the Stairway, sneak past the old bearded Saint guy in the robe, and slip in through the Gates. And if I somehow manage to get away with all of that, I fully expect to find Jon and Criss jamming out to this live, on stage. That's when I'll know I'm in Heaven.
