When I came in from outside my husband was listening to your song. I said oh you listening to Dennis. He said no it’s a tribute band. I was amazed the singer has Dennis dead on. Come to Tucson AZ anytime we would love to see you.
Bravo Steve et toute la gang. Je suis dans le metier depuis 30 ans et vous etes vraiment top! Tight, etc.....les vrais accord, tout est parfait! Bravo de la part de ton ancien reparateur d'ampli Steve!
Styx was one of my favorites I saw them preform the grand illusion, paradise theater and mr roboto concerts live and I can honestly say you did them justice. I was expecting the actual concert with Styx from 1977 and was disappointed when I saw these guys on stage but after listening to the first song I was impressed and ended up watching most of it from 4 years ago already. Hopefully you guys are still rocking all their albums or songs. Great job.
MOI Donald Parent de Québec fan de Styx au Colisée Québec j'ai assisté à tous spectacles j en suis très émue vous êtes edentique aux Styx lâchez pas vous êtes super merci
So I liked the way the band plays this music. Very well done. Great musicians. And I just noticed that each of the members in the band is wearing the same clothes that Styx wore in their promotional photos taken for The Grand Illusion album cover. Very cool touch! Good luck!
I have heard a lot of Styx cover bands and he is the closest to Dennis I have heard. He is way better than Gowan ever could be. They should have gotten this guy instead.
It's a great show, and I'm sure I'd have a great time if I attended. The only thing is, it seems real obvious they are using tracks for some of the parts. For example, the instrumental break in the middle of Come Sail Away. Now either, they are the most genius tribute musicians of any kind out there, are they are not playing all of the music live that your hearing. Reproducing this song in my band, I don't see how it's possible to get all those synth sounds of that section without at least 3 or 4 live players to exactly match the studio record, and that task would be daunting. It was done I'm sure in several over dubs by Styx. Probably next to impossible to reproduce that spot on live. Sounds like they are playing the original CD for that part. Even if they managed to reproduce that in the studio not played live, it's an incredible feat done far better than Styx ever played live. Chances are, we're hearing the original recording. But please comment as I'm curious. I only saw one keyboard player, and the fingering is not always matching what I'm hearing. I guess some bands have different approaches. Personally, I'm against any instruments in my bands not actually played by the musicians with the exception of maybe a short sampled sound effect that isn't part of a melodic part like say the intro to "Too much time on my hands".
@@joebot9309 I highly doubt it. Styx has never come close to reproducing it like that. It's very obvious the instrumental is directly from the original recording. Can't you hear the over dubs in it? There are multiple scales descending at the same time. The Solina synth strings & the repeating synth pattern are also playing at the same time. A pro synth guy only has 2 hands. The sounds are totally spot on, a feat Styx and no other band has been able to 100% match live. No easy task. It would take a minimum of 4 hands to play it as you hear it on the record, plus some very expensive rare vintage synths or maybe the two new Oberheim 8 voice soft synths that just came out in the past few months, not 2018 when this video was posted. At 24:53 you can hear the phased synth string change in tone from their keyboardist playing it, to the studio record at 24:54 a split second before the synth echo effect with a delay comes in from the studio record.
Prob wouldn't have had any thumbs downs if it were TITLED cover band. When you think it's STYX, it's a bit of a let down, but once you find out it is a cover band, your like WOAH! These guys are really good! 👍🏻 😉
What an incredibly talented group of singers/musicians! You replicated the sound and spirit of STYX beautifully. Plus, wearing the outfits, particularly of JY and Tommy, from the Grand Illusion album photo shoot is a great touch, really adds to the “experience”. Bravo!
I wish I would have known this when I was A jealous Religious Zealot who was told you were a Satanic Band. What they did not tell me was that Satan is not a person but an Adversary. True you were an Adversary to The :Poison of Religion. Love & Peace
