He thinks the nazis won WW2 that slaps hard when we see Israel’s heartless colonial takeover of the Levant. Remember what happens to the earth happens to us
Noisy kids are annoying! Kids should not be allowed at a very important meeting or class about our culture. I am trying hard to listen with children’s noises in the background. It’s not like these kids are going to listen and retain this information, at the age where they cry and make noise. They sound like toddlers.
there was many of Speaches like this from John and i Know through own Experience that Religious be full of Lies and spirituality is the 4K Truth of Beeing of all Things and with our Connection with it - the Dark Side always want to cut or Kill the Connection and some Native Amercians was saying this
Met John a few times over the years as a supporter of the American Indian Movement. Humble, soft spoken, extremely smart. The first time I met him, I didn't know who he was, I thought he was Jackson Browne. My bad. I'm from Pine Ridge, prior to AIM coming along, no one wanted to be Indian, no one ever talked about cultural pride, there was absolutely no such thing as our native spirituality. There was an awakening of the Native American People's spirit after AIM came upon the scene. And it persists to this day. A lot of people are not AIM per se, but they still have that indomitable pride and warrior spirit that enables to them stand against racism for their people and future generations.
What energy you send out will return to you three fold. If you hate this man because he is trying to honor both his Apache and Navajo ancestors in a way you do not approve of, then neither will you be honored. People will talk about you behind your back and spread evil rumors about you. Be careful about the energy you send out.
No one sees this it's all about me me me people are not wanting to share so go back and look don't want to eat that sandwich lol truth is a razor blade
John Trudell wrote this. It’s recorded on a CD, and it might be on RU-vid or somewhere on-line. He’s one of only a few Native American people in rock music. Another one is Buffy Sainte-Marie. Another one is Cree Summer, who is mostly known as a voice actress, but also recorded an album called “Street Faerie” with Lenny Kravitz. John Trudell “Baby Boom Ché” You wanna know what happened to Elvis? I’ll tell ya what happened I oughta know man, I was one of his army I mean man I was on his side He made us feel all right We were the first wave In the post war baby boom The generation before had just come Out of the Great Depression And World War II You know heavy vibes for people to wear So much heaviness like some kind of Voiding of the emotions Their music you know the songs Life always carries You know, every culture has songs Well anyway their music was Restrained emotion You know like you didn’t wanna dance If you didn’t know how Which says something strange Well anyway Elvis came along about ten Years after the nuke When the only generals America had and The only army she had were Ike and Mac And stupor hung over the land A plague where everyone tried to Materially free themselves Still too shell shocked to understand To feel what was happening Everything was getting hopeless Then when Elvis started to rock The roll just picked up I mean drabness the beaver showed us Could only be a foretold future Who wanted to be Ward and June and I mean Father never did know best He was still crazy from surviving The War Like there was this psychotic pall So widespread as to be assumed normal Heavy man you know really Anyway Elvis showed us an out You know he showed Everybody Man and Every Girl Woman there's something good In feeling good Like a prophet for every boy every girl When someone's Mom and Dad lied Something about him told us To be sensual is really okay Someone's Mom and Dad waltzed us around Every girl wasn't suppose to enjoy it If she did she was bad and every boy Well boys will be boys Don't feel anything Take what you can Marry a decent girl when the fun's done Like no matter what we did We all were guilty Maybe someone's Mom and Dad resented What they missed And while they were trying to pass it On us we heard Elvis's song And for the first time we made up our Own mind The first wave rebelled I mean we danced even if we didn’t Know how I mean Elvis made us move Instead of standing mute he raised Our voice And when we heard ourselves Something was changing You know, like for the first time we Made a collective decision About choices America hurriedly made Pat Boone A general in the army they wanted Us to join But most of us held fast to Elvis And the commandants around him Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Little Richard Bo Diddley, Gene Vincent You know, like a different Civil War All over again I mean you take ‘Don’t Be Cruel’ ‘I Want You I Need You I Love You’ And ‘Jailhouse Rock’ Or you take Pat and his white bucks Singing love letters in the sand Hell man, what’s real here? I mean, Pat at the beach in his White bucks His ears getting sunburned told us Something about old wave delusion I mean wanting and needing and Imprisonment We all been to those places But what did White Bucks at the beach Understand other than more straight Line Dancing You know what I mean? Anyway man for awhile we had a breather Of fresh energy to keep us from falling Into the big sleep Then before long Elvis got assassinated In all the fame Taking a long time to die others seized Control while Elvis rode the needle out Never understanding what he done It’s like we were the Baby Boom because Life needed a fresher start I mean two World Wars in a row is Really crazy man And Elvis even though He didn’t know he said it He showed it to us anyway And even though We didn’t know we heard it We heard it anyway Man like he woke us up And now they’re trying to put us Back to sleep So we’ll see how it goes Anyway look at the record man Rock ’N Roll is based on revolution Going way past 33⅓ You gotta understand man he was America’s Baby Boom Ché I oughta know man, I was in his army
Of course I agree with Trudell that what happens to the Earth happens to us. But I completely disagree with his definitions of "Religion" vs "Spirituality." He makes the same mistake so many do, of equating "religion" with authoritarian monotheistic "Churchianity." He assigns all bad attitudes to religion, and all good ones to spirituality. Spirituality is about your personal relation with Spirit and the Spirit Realms, as opposed to the material realm. It's private: your own beliefs, prayers, practices, observances, etc. Not involved with others, or the physical world. I'm not really much into that... Religion is what we do in community, with others. The word literally means "re-linking;" restoring our severed connections between ourselves, each other and all things. "Churchianity," which isolates people into hostile cults and warring camps, is the very antithesis of true religion. There are more than 400 sects of Christianity, and each consider themselves to be the "Chosen People," "God's Elect," the One True Right and Only Way--and all the others to be heresies. Same is true for Orthodox Moslems and Jews. And non-adherents are "infidels," condemned to damnation--not just in the Afterlife, but right here on Earth. Far from re-connecting, they are dividing and alienating. Fostering jihads and "holy wars" (an oxymoron if ever there was one!) But Christianity (mainly the Catholic, Evangelical, Fundamentalist, Orthodox, LDS and Dominionist churches) is not the only "religion," and neither is any other monotheistic faith group; and it pisses me off that they have commandeered that identity, as they don't deserve it. They are cults. And they can be lumped in with every villainous association and individual by one defining criterion: They all want to rule the wold. On the contrary, I consider Paganism to be not only A religion, but religion itself. So I am a very religious guy.
The use of the word earth has become another abstraction.. the reality of earth is our body and our relationships. I don’t think I agree with his idea of responsibility for earth because we are “earth” I think better words would be relationship.. to our individual bodies and hope those bodies connect with and engage the larger sphere around it. Use of personifications and abstractions that have been politicized need to be thrown off to keep from enslaving minds
Omg.. he blew my mind! It makes so much sense. Whatever Happens to the earth happens to us this should be a daily meditation to remind us of who are out friends and who aren’t.
When I was a little kid my grandfather and his friends use to sing all the time. Being so young did not appreciate the beauty of the Navajo songs and the singers.
