I bought Daddy Plays The Horn 40 plus years ago, in a small record store in my hometown, and THIS track ignited my love affair with bebop jazz. This track literally changed my life.
I played this song at a gig in the Isle of Man in 1988 when Scott Hamilton was top of a jazz festival weekend there, it was such a joy to to play the contrabass behind such a towering talent as Scott.
Swaying to the feeling good things are on the distant horizon over yonder beside the ebullient waters washing all cares away far flung thoughts of better happier times for us like the time oh well its best we just move on what is one love affair in the lives of busy people stranger to themselves even more so to each other in ways only from a distance far from the fact a glimmer of perspective offers a breath of hope that this time it will be different and we will know why the wyvern haunts our endeavors.
May I offer a very heart felt "Thank you Very Much" to the great American Documentary maker who reintroduced these great artists to generations who never experienced them. You know who I mean.
This changes keys like a m*f*er and is so smooth no one even notices....but when I try to change key in a song I write it sounds like I started a new song :')
