After 2014 most of these places including Ocracoke are off limits. You can fly the populated town technically. These days NC has a couple of laws affecting this. Taking off and landing on private property without permission I believe and something about recording peoples houses with the intent to publish. Both of which make flying even the unrestricted area's of Ocracoke difficult to do and publish without a problem.
What a great place to vacation but an even better place to live. You get to take your Jeep on the beach and even get snow a few times a year to drive through.
