Sweet!!! I remember seeing this when it first came out in theatres and that Phryhian dominant theme (Lothlorien) and it just felt so exotic and magical. Then the Ring theme comes in with its haunting, chilling mood and sinister, dark undertones. Shore is such a genius.
This was the one that turned me into a Goldsmith fan as a kid -- right from that first note. Thrilling lower register! Another fine work from IngeMusic!
Hi Inge...I also transcribe Film themes into piano solos. Do you take requests/challenges? If yes...would you consider transcribing Ennio Morricone's terrific "Pororoca" theme from his "Cacciatori di Navi" soundtrack. It's a very " busy" theme.
Never heard of this movie until recently, so I watched it. What a crazy fun movie it was. But also this is a great peice of music. I always appreciate renditions of OSTs from lesser known films.
Many thanks! I became a film music enthusiast - and a fan of John Williams specifically - beginning in the early 70s when I practically lived in my dad's beautiful movie theatre. He frequently got soundtrack promo albums which he always passed onto me, and I eagerly devoured them. JAWS2 was one of them. It's essentially a 70s "slasher film at sea", but the score is quite good and a bit underrated. This cue, which I'm seeing in score for the first time, illustrates Williams' genius for being able to find enormous wealth within a single, often simple, idea. Thanks again.
Man, this is cool. What was the name of the weird instrument Goldsmith used in the recording sessions? I know it was a unique instrument for an orchestration. Most orchestras don't have the instrument and other recordings, or live performances, sound different.
@@ingemusic3 Yes! I've heard about that one! But no! Got your reply! Quickly Goggled! And Yahtzee! I found this WAY COOL clip only 26 seconds long. Its a side-by-side with the film playing along with the strange instrument. "Angklung". ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nSJ5uuju3X4.html
That menacing repeated c sharp minor chord with that alien intermittent chromatic mediant 7th on a long crescendo phrase really does spell the inevitability of that final D7's end. Such fantastic, awesome writing and glad this piano score also captures it. Just brilliant.
This is so sick! The Scar Night trilogy is one of my all time favorite fantasy series and it deserves sooooo much more attention than it gets, Killer arrangement. Definitely fits the theme of these books.
