Excellent analysis of a (another) young player from Cameroon who has tremendous potential. The way he moves at 6’11” is remarkable! So glad he is with the Raptors - his future is bright. I’ve subscribed and look forward to more great content!
I disagree. I think that we absolutely do need him. We need to show the league that you can come to Boston for cheap and get some play time so that you build your stock and get a decent contract elsewhere. This is a perfect move where he stands something to gain and the Celtics can greatly strengthen the bench for the year. Next year it will be someone else.
Nik you nailed it. He’s not expected to start or even play every game. His skill set exceeds that of an NBA 11th-15th man. I can see there being a lot of opportunity and resting players this season on the way to the playoffs. If he can buy in to his role on the team, come off the bench, and not be an absolute minus on the court, that is a huge win for the Celtics. Plus Lonnie could cash in the following season like Svi. He’s still young, and I’d argue surrounded by the most talent of his career, excited to see if Joe unlocks something we haven’t seen from Lonnie yet.
I’ve watched this one million times but never commented on it. Almost every day I watch Marcus’s tribute video and memorized it. My favorite part of this specific clip is when Marcus looks over to the Celtics bench to see if they’re waiting for him to cry. I miss him and his energy and hope can bring it back to TD soon but wearing c’s green. Thank you, Marcus.
I've always said Mazzulla is a true disciple of Stevens & has many effective & innovative plays he picked up not just from Stevens & other coaches but from football, soccer...etc. He is one of the most humble, intelligent & no non-sense coach I've seen so far in the NBA.
I'd love to see you put together a video that catalogues the entire Celtic playbook before the season starts up again. Especially if you wedded it to statistics that lay out which actions were the most efficient for the team during the championship run. Like a montage of different post-up sets with the point per possession info narrated over it. Or some fast break clips showing how the Celtics are so disciplined at centering the ball and fighting for space and their proper lanes as they hustle down the floor. You have such a good eye for diagraming different plays and actions, it'd be a real treat to see a comprehensive overview of what worked and what didn't over the course of the last season. Things like FG% on pull-up jumpers vs catch and shoot situations etc. I'm starting to get giddy about the title defense. Thank you again Steve Kerr and the Olympic committee for firing up our two best players! Revenge Tour '24-'25 incoming! Shoes off! Banners Up!
Nobody wants Ingram. He's a later day Melo. Too many streaky midrange jumpers and not much else. Timelord! If only he could stay healthy. I once observed that if he stayed healthy, played 40+ minutes a game, 80+ games a season, and was the best team leader in the history of sport, he would've been Bill Russell 2.0. That was his ceiling. Most impactful defender and rebounder since Rodman. When he was healthy, and on the floor that is. Which was/is the problem. Still miss him. I don't think Grant moves the needle for LA. If they make a trade it'll be for a higher profile, lower cost option. Like that small forward from the Bulls, whats his name? They'd probably get him for cheaper than this proposal. No chance Miami trades Jovic for Kuzma. Heat like Jovic's upside (as do I) and Kuzma is just cashing checks. Kuz ain't gonna get paid any extra money to play hard for Spo night after night. Maybe he agrees to the trade for the nightlife in South Beach but I suspect Kuz has already played his last competitive minutes in the NBA. He'll ride the gravy train as long as he can, but he's not a serious competitor at this stage of his career. Jalen Duren is a beast! He would do great in New Orleans (if only as an enforcer for Zion) and Detroit does have too many centers (while the Pelicans have none). Maybe this becomes a salary dump deal for Detroit. Off the top of my head I don't know Duren's contract status, but I'll bet he's close to the end of his rookie deal. Maybe the Piston's don't want to pay him? Check that. Didn't they just drop a bag on Tobias Harris? So maybe that's why Detroit would punt Duren. They're clueless. Great vid as always.
@@tylerriley2587 I don’t feel Kyle Kuzma is dominant. He’s only that way because he’s on the Wizards. He’s much more fit to be in a catch and shoot role like he was with the Lakers
Great stuff Nik. Interesting pickup. A really good player. Sure would love to see him do well. Certainly will be rooting for him. With KP down for awhile his length and athleticism will be heavily called upon.
Hey brother, I really love all of your content and watch every single video. I thought you probably wanted to know that an exhibit 10 is different from a 10-day contract. Not trying to bust your balls, but just thought I would let you know my man. Looking forward to more content!
Never paid any attention to wnba before this season but gotta admit it is growing on me. Like most wnba newbies I got interested in it cuz of CC, however, I have really come to love this team. It's amazing how they've improved, they are like a dif team now, and that's a credit to the coach. On a recent broadcast, the color person, Nancy somebody, said this team will win a chip soon. I agree, but maybe real soon. I've become a Fever fan, love watching them. Here's why: KM: she is their best player; the smartest and the most clutch. I can't remember anybody who shoots so high--I call her "Rainbow". The ball comes off her hand with very little spin, which makes her shot all the more unusual, but she hits them. And they are fun to watch. Back in the day we used to say about players like her that "the ball loves them." When the ball is in her hands the two of them look like old dance partners. Fun to watch. CC: Way better than at the start of the season. Enjoy watching her because she pushes the ball, which makes the game more exciting. She has cut down on TOs, but still needs to improve as her ball skills aren't so good. She pushes hard, plays hard, never lets up and is a real problem for opposing defenses. She still has room for improvement as she doesn't always make good decisions with the ball. She often makes difficult passes to players who are covered, resulting in TOs, missed shots or return passes. She is better than before, but she is still a bit injudicious with the ball, and that will come back to haunt you sooner or later. But still a great player and fun to watch. AB: Vastly underappreciated, and much improved. Now, she does everything asked of her on the court and does it well. She seems to be always in the right spot. She has become really slick under the basket, and she has learned how to use her size in the post. She has great hands and receives the ball really well. She has a soft shot even from in deep where it is the hardest to shoot soft shots. She's a good player. Smith: really heady player with the same skill set as AB, but a better defender. LH: When will this woman get her due? Best 1/o/1 defender in league and maybe best team defender too. She's the best athlete on the team and is massively disruptive to opposing offenses as she is all over te place. Her energy level is unbelievable, she reminds me a bit of D. Rodman. She was recently promoted to starter--what took so long? Her offensive rebounding is really good and her 3s are improving. My fav player. This is quite a team they've assembled.
TBH its not wild to me. Thats the reality of todays Nba. if you're a one-skill guy, and that one-skill isnt great/elite and its scoring (easily the last need for any team in the league), you're not going to get paid. Or extended. See other 1-skill, non-elite scorers like jaylen nowell, jaden hardy, etc. To stick, you have to be at least a 2-skill player. Whether thats rebounding, defense, playmaking or utility (setting screens/offball movement). Lonnie is bad at all those other skills in mentioned. At best you could say hes a decent passer. But that doesnt cut it, hence he didnt get picked up. Scorers do have value in this league but only if you're highly efficient/elite at it. Like a 15-20 ppg bucket getter. Lonnie is a 10 ppg guy on a bad team. Thats good but not great/elite. Hes therefore not an alpha scorer. Those get paid. Hes a roleplayer who's not great at things roleplayers are valued for. Rondo (and Nash) would also tell you that jumping before you pass is also a sign of a bad passer. You dont want to get caught up in the air without an outlet. Thats usually a grab and go live turnover fastbreak layup. Still, i'm happy Brad got lonnie. His offense is nba ready unlike springer or baylor's. Instead of waiving Lonnie, if i was Brad, i'd just salary dump springer for a pick (its very telling that brad has extended every extension eligible guy except springer) then sign Lonnie to a vet min. We keep the superior player, save a bit on luxury taxes, get a pick wnd keep a roster spot open (save on taxes again).
Think it’s all about how he can do defensively. I don’t think they’re worried about his ability on offense to be a real player on this team. But you gotta defend to play for the Boston Celtics in 2024
Sir. Thank you for introducing me to Mr. Walker. Not that I like him cooking my boy KP. But I’m glad I remembered the house rule - no clicks till you lose your kicks!
@@niknba I mean like any team could’ve picked up Lonnie Walker if the cap strapped Celtics could. The Heat still have holes in their roster. Don’t know why they didn’t go for Lonnie
@@PutXi_Whippedbecause hes a 1 skill player whose skill is not valued highly by smart GMs. Hes a better fit on tanking teams who need an alpha scorer.
He’s gotta be given a roster spot. There’s just no way in my brain he gets waived unless Brad is really committed to the leaving the 15th spot open thing
You say he the next Ibaka, I see a mf GIANNIS in this dude. As a Raptor fan, this shit is the best thing ever both for him and for us. Nothing but love for this guy, will be rooting for him till the very end. IN MASAI WE TRUST
Hey, Nik, glad I caught this early in the morning before the kicks were on, given you were so excited about Mr. Walker that you forgot to remind us. That’s good enough for me - I’m a fan of you and Mr. Walker now.
This is an overrated signing. Lonnie is a 1-skill guy whose great skill (3-level scorer) is the one thing the Cs dont need. He wont get to handle the ball in the Cs offense as he'll be at least be behind 5 players in Cs playmaking depth chart (jt, jb, jrue, white, pp). The only thing he brings that translates is the good 3pt shooting. He doesnt rebound, pass well, set screens or play defense. The Cs need more of these skills from role players (along with high 3pt efficiency). They dont need another shot creator. Much moreso a guard which is their deepest position. They need 3ND wings. Hes arguably this teams 12th man at best (assuming Joe prefers his offense to springer's defense). And when fully healthy, no team really plays more than 9-10 men a night in the regular season. Cs rotation: starters 1-5: jt, jb, kp, jrue, d.white core bench 6-9: al, hauser, pp, tillman regular rotation mins stop here. situational bench 10-12: luke (with kp out to start the season), queta (for the time Al sits on the 2nd night of a B2B), lonnie/jaden (if they decide to give jrue the al treatment) maine 13-18: jaden, anton, baylor, walsh, jd, drew camp cuts 19-20: harper jr. Enaruna The positive here is lonnie will push jaden and baylor in camp. Lonnie though wont get mins outside of garbage time/injuries. He's not overtaking PP.
An Exhibit 10 contract is a one-year, minimum salary contract with no other bonuses. The Exhibit 10 attachment gives NBA teams the ability to convert the contract into a Two-Way deal, but only if they do it before the start of the regular season. They are usually non-guaranteed, allowing teams to waive the player without taking a cap hit.
