I mean, Sabaton is also Swedish, yet look at them. I feel they get way more recognition that Hammerfall, Powerwolf too... I really don't know why Hammerfall doesn't seem to get so much recognition lately. Shame, they're still my favorite band, and have been ever since I was 12 and discovered metal for the first time. And that was 14 years ago. That's how long I've been loving and appreciating this music.
I saw your face in the morning sun Oh, I thought you were there I heard your voice as the wind passed me by Silently, whispering my name So many things that I wanted to say Forever left untold I still remember the tears that you shed Over someone else Our love could never die All I can do is cry Save a little prayer for the fallen one There is a light down at memory lane Slowly fading away Still holding on to the dreams torn apart I will follow my heart Our love could never die All I can do is cry Save a little prayer for the fallen one Still on my own, chasing the sun Of a time long ago The shade in my heart, tearing apart Everything that I long for I saw your face in the morning sun Oh, I thought you were there I heard your voice as the wind passed me by Whispering my name Our love could never die All I can do is cry Save a little prayer for the fallen one
So I discovered Hammerfall a few years ago, fell in love with them with songs such as Something for the Ages, which I find to be one of the best all time boss fight songs, and songs of it's genre. But never did I expect such a power group bring out such powerful emotions from me. And I just discovered this song this year, and with everything going on right now and thinking about that and then listening to this song, it hit me hard. Just bawling. This is such an incredible song, and it really shows off the vocal talent, which is rarely seen in a light quite like this where their instrumentals are usually their core. That's not to say that the instrumentals here are also perfections. Just wow.
I made a vocal cover of this one, mixing opera and metal singing. I hope you enjoy it! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0r1xTUjd_wU.html
2:03 I always think that as that last part of the verse is being said as he's, "chasing the sun". Whether he's running away from the listener, or the listener away from him, I don't know. Just makes me think of the literal distance he's making between himself and the "fallen one". Love this song.
Escuché esta canción por primera vez cuando tenía 7 años, corrían los noventa y doy fe que me ha acompañado a lo largo y ancho de casi dos décadas. Es simplemente alucinante.
I've heard this first time at school. Then four years later I fell in love, unrequited. I have listened a lot of sad music, post rock, dark electro, dsbm, doom metal, gothic, triphop, classic, powerelectronics... It's ten years since those school days. But Hammerfall ballads are still in my heart, reminding me the time before it all, when I knew all this suffering only as beautiful lyrics, when I were intact. What a yearning piece of art, damn it.
