Sage, I'm so sorry for what they did to you, and how they hurt you, they hurt so many of us. Your story and grit is inspiring. I wish you continued health improvements, and thank you so much for telling your story.

I'm not afraid....I just can't be 100% sure. There was certainly a chance it was the vaccine (given the timing and my lack of underlying genetic conditions). If that was the case I was extremely unlucky. But I can't prove that so I'm not going to say something that I'm not 100% is true. The PE could have also been caused by a real COVID infection as well. The truth is I don't know!
So well done! Stand up Hoka move supporting awesome Sage and Sandi! I just bought my first HOKA ONE ONE Bondi 8's! They have so proven themselves and one the right thing sticking with their athletes. These shoes are the best things I have ever run in!
Being and East Coast boy, how in the world would I train for this race? I've done the Mount Washington Road Race a bunch of times but that tops out at 6,288ft. That is probably the elevation at the start of this race.

It happened literally a day or two after he got boosted. He knows it was the vaccine, but would never admit it since it would be a massive loss of face. He was incredibly dogmatic and arrogant about #science because he took BIO 101 twenty years ago. "Proud to say I was lucky enough to get a COVID19 vaccine today! Sage’s RU-vid channel is what got me into running over 10 years ago. He inspired me to sign up for my first marathon in September of 2012, but my father in law passed away from suicide 2 weeks before our race, so my brother in law and I pulled out. Now 10 years later I am back in running form and using Sage’s videos again for inspiration. I hadn’t realized the adversity he’s had to face. Now I am even more pumped to stay consistent and get some metals.
Amazing what he overcame … getting back to running after a major illness like this is a seriously hard thing to do. Interesting the timing of the health issues… wonder if he had any of the new injectables that were just out around that time as it’s one of the side effects that have been talked about. Great 👍🏼 he has access to the lung physio tools as well as doing the running.

Those two are such an amazing team. I’m so glad they found each other. Welcome back, sage. Those pulmonary embolisms are no joke. I thought I was having heart attacks and would wake up gasping for air. I had overused myself in so many ways: IT band syndrome, massive groin injuries due to massively inflamed adductors, quadricep tendonitis, patellar Tendonitis. It all came to a point where all I could do was sit with legs elevated for about a year. Foolishly decided to go for a slow 30 minute 5K for the 4th of July race and massively messed up my groin so much more worse than it had been before that it felt like the boys (for a lack of better words) were being squeezed and getting no circulation. As I worked with the LMT to break all of that up is when I began with these mysterious lung and heart issues. Had to do the dye test where they inject you with this hot feeling dye and makes you feel like your peeing too self. So unpleasant…all of it. I can only relate! And yes I’m coming back from 2 years down… No fun! …And no retiring for you!!! People break their own records and set records at older ages. I once finished a 20 minute 5K at 40, two years ago, alongside a white haired/ white bearded 67 year old! So I have hope for us older runners. Also, we must have been going through this side-by-side. At first I thought it was a strange COVID symptom. Some people have not just king, but heart issues. That last attack I went to emergency. My chest was hotter and icier feeling than ever and all I could do was lay in a fetal position and I’d spasm periodically in a focal point that seemed concentrated in my should blade region but in my lungs.
This is damn inspiring! You guys are an awesome couple! Saw you have signed up for UTMB - Go for it! No matter how it will turn out, be proud of you man. You are an incredible human being!
Omg...first I've heard of Sage being ill. Hope he recovers fully ..a great ultra runner personality. I wonder was the covid vaccine involved..wasn't the Astra Zeneca vaccine blamed for blood clotting complications?
Was the dude civid jabbed as its ending lives and athletes careers all over the place with myocardial issues and all sorts of bad stuff. I hope not as its tragic.
Amazing to get an update on Sage. I watched allll of his videos when I first started running a bit more seriously in 2016, 2017. So glad to see that he is making a recovery and finding the joy in running again.
It’s heart wrenching to see great athlete like Sage not able to afford healthcare in the world‘s wealthiest nation! …. Stop wars and spend more on American health and infrastructures
