I honestly completely overlooked that. Could have just deconstructed the window, probably would not have survived breaking open the command door. Also I left the chat scrolled up so never found out if the radio worked...
Looks beautiful but.. where are all the people? I see 3-5 but they just stand there. Man that game is Dead! Needs SO many more NPC. Thanks so much for sharing.. its not you :)
So, I've also notices that most of the NPCs just stand around, most annoying near the info kiosks by each of the ships. But when the server is ok and there aren't a lot of other players, then the NPCs do walk about. I think my Anvil video shows that more. It's also that most players aren't attending the showfloors, they're just renting the ships for free and flying them. I've heard that the goal is to have ~10-ish NPCs per player roaming about.
sadly, z-fighting is a random glitch effect that can differ wildly when used on different renderers or game engines, it doesn't leave you with a lot of artistic control. There is a youtube video I can't find anymore about a guy walking through a city (new york?) and all surfaces are z-fighting textures, it was very trippy and eye-straining.
There are much quicker ways of getting to Benny's Henge. Try warping from Port Olisar to Yela, then aim your ship to the left of Yela and jump into the black but stop your jump one second after you engage. Then turn back and jump to Yela. Yela will be less than three minutes away. Simply fly to the innner edge of the ring and look for the bright red strobes.
From what I can remember. 4gigs of ram, dual core something processor. 8705 cubes is not that much, just 69640 verts. I was testing the rigid body tools that allowed you to automatically set the "dynamic" and wight of a list of objects. don't remember much more of making this. was going for the style of one of those other rigid body simulations on youtube.
go to jnode.org/ for more info on jnode I don't even know if internet works in jnode... It's basically an OS written in JAVA. very early testing stages.. but still fun to see something that isn't Winblows, Linux or mac.
@PreyingMantisMan but that was my old computer. the one i have now can do this in 10 hours, currently rendering a 240 frame animation at 720p to 250s/p.
@GLaDOSakaBot . what is specularity? (i'm dutch, and i'm using blender as a hobby to pass time until fallout new vegas comes out, that aside, i think the plastic look is fine, my flag on the flag pole in the yard is made of plastic(nylon)) currently doing a new render(had to re do the model)
