I'm from Florida but areas like the Dalton have always fascinated me. Hoping to one day reach the peak of Denali one way or another. Just worried about the fact that you are hit with the full force of the arctic in a storm due to how close it is to the sea. Not to mention it's the tallest object for a long while(may be the tallest according to some)
The North Slope in winter has basically the same temperature and windchill as the summit of Denali..( less the high altitude oxygen/ pressure differences).. I've seen - 60F and 80 mph gusts at Prudhoe
I worked on the drilling rigs on and off since I was 17. The last one was in williston with niebors . I hauled oil dbl tanker the last 4 yrs. I never took a drillers job I did not want to manage roughnecks on drugs. I was 50 and doing chainhand lol. I'm 62 and climbing large trees on my property and taking them down before hurricane season down here on ga. Fl. Line
@@TaigaTurf indeed he did, he shared so many stories! He was writing a book but never finished it. He passed away in 2019. Im thinking of putting his unfinished book to video one day.
Is this in Alaska? I have family up there somewhere near Anchorage and they don't have green grass at their house yet, and still piles of snow everywhere, I just saw a recent FB video of their dog outside. LOL
That is one route that requires nerves of steel right out of the gate, good decision making skills, and razor sharp attention to detail. Being in the right gear at the right time helps too. Looking forward to driving this road soon.
