I was helping my 7 year old with his homework and as he was proudly sticking his gold sticker stars on his correct answers i started singing this song to him at random. He asked "come on dad thats not a real song is it"..."hold on son...RU-vid"...and here we are. Hes now happily singing the chorus to himself up in his room. Generational!

I remember this talent show Derek Hobson was the compere. Micky Most and Tony Hatch were among the regular judges. They weren't like as they were often nasty to contestants. Bob Carolgees with Spit the Dog along with Lenny Henry won it. Singer Patti Boulaye was the only one who got maximum points.
"You're A Star" became extremely well known when it was used as the theme song for the ITV talent show 'New Faces'. It failed to dent the charts - surprising considering it was a very anthemic song and the popularity of the show.
Like mj Jones I bought this when it came out and of preferred it to the a side. I still have it but no turntable so I haven't heard it for years. I've searched for it countless times on the net but haven't been on for the last four or five years so I was elated to find it tonight. To whoever uploaded it, thank you.
