30:54 Fun Fact: the Angels were purchased by Arte Moreno in 2003 making him the first Mexican-American to own a major sports team in the United States. This is pretty significant considering as of 2023, 30.2% of Major League Baseball (MLB) players on opening day rosters were Hispanic or Latino.
The Whalers were already in Hartford when the WHA NHL merger happened. The Whalers moved to Hartford in 1974 after a season of very low attendance in Boston in the 1973-74 season.
I feel for Min loosing the North Stars. But the Stars have gained a massive following in Dallas, and the name “Stars” was fitting for Dallas. This city has produced tons of stars from movies to music to sports. Also playing along with the cowboys theme and another Star.
The problem with the NJ/NY Gotham is New Jersey not getting any recognition without New York in the name. - Gotham refers to New York City (i.e. Batman - Gotham City) - The Statue of Liberty 🗽 is physically located in the State of New Jersey - The team's stadium is physically located in the Town of Harrison, Hudson County, New Jersey - There is NOTHING New York about the team I'm sick and tired of New Jersey always playing second-fiddle to New York. And don't get me going about the Red Bulls, Jets and Giants.
"Spurs are worn on cowboy boots and often seen in cowboy films...." Possibly, but long time owner Red McCombs was from a small West Texas town named Spur. Coincidence I'm sure.
33:29 San Jose doesn’t want the name “blades” because they didn’t want to be associated with weapons. Meanwhile in Buffalo….. The real reason is because even back then California was known to very gay friendly- they didn’t want to be teased and called the San Jose “gay-blades”- that’s the truth look it up
This is what I hate about U.S. sports we have so many teams that often relocate that it becomes a joke. like the lakers playing in a fcking desert. Franchising is such a cancer to sports.
