@glen20rainman56 Thank You, but I just feel I was a very lucky kid who had a chance to be standing amongst my legends like George and Tom Savini. Thx for watching.
Man George and tom were at the height of there Game when they made Day of the dead, and i really like the Dark half from 1992 till 2000s bruiser George unfortunately fell of the radar and according to his ex wife chris he was not a well man when he made land of the Dead 2005. Anyway George will always be my favourite film maker and a man who i studied from being a young lad in the north of England.👍
Besides Night of the Living Dead. The essence of George I believe as a filmmaker lies in 3 films he did in a row. Martin, Dawn of the Dead, and Knightriders. He was never as free to make the movies he wanted. And you could throw The Crazies in there as another brilliant Romero film.
@jeffanoble I love the crazies, I remember George saying he would love to do a film like Batman, but as you mention he unfortunately never had the freedom he should have. I belive in 1997/8 he went to Japan and made a short movie for the Resident Evil video game.
Gavin my dear friend. Those are great memories. Time spent with you and your family are as well. Monroeville Mall Ice Rink. Talking movies. Library at St. Slyvester School researching Demonology and Witchcraft. The Demon's Curse script idea from like 4th grade. Wow. Hope all is well with you guys.
I am jealous. Wish I could have been in a Romero movie. It is so cool that you are in the films. Now I am going to have to watch them again and watch for your zombies. Oh well gives me another excuse to watch them again.
Tom Savini's make-up effects were below par on Dawn of the Dead. Then he must've learned how to do it properly after watching Lucio Fulci movies. On Day of the Dead, the make-up effects were done properly.
Yeah I'm sorry. I've had some health problems. But I do have some stories to tell about that day. Be patient and hang with me. Maybe some time this summer I can put it all together. Thanks so much for your interest.
Well back in those days these movies weren't taken too seriously. They weren't the giant genre they are now so most of it was a true cult following. The general public and news dismissed them and were pretty tongue in cheek when commenting on them. But there were those in Pittsburgh media (KDKA mostly) that gave George & Company his due.
Thanks for sharing this and what a great video! I really enjoyed your story. I love this movie and first watched it in 1986 when it came to video in the UK. I was 16 years old back then. I’m almost 54 years old now and I still watch this movie in a regular basis. It’s always stayed with me. Next time I watch I will look out for you. All the best!
Wow.. thanks so much for sharing your experience 🤘 that's the most iconic photo of George that I can think of and there you are! That's just too cool man
Love it. I look like a young Stallone in this one. Wish we kept going. I did get a part in that Bruce Willis movie as a Pgh Lock operator but the weather got really dark from a storm after a full day of sun so i hit cutting room floor. What happened to Mike?
Thanks Terry. Of course some bad news about Mike Samolovitch though. He passed away in 2017 I believe of cancer. Believe he just turned 50. A shame for sure. I was really lucky to have great people in my stuff. You were the only one that didn't bail on this movie though, so I thank you. Take care of yourself. Hope all is well with you and family.
I also live in Pittsburgh and also never heard of these guys. Where do they play? I want to see them perform. They sound better than a lot of Doors imitators.
I shot that footage in 1987 or 88 but I think they did a show as recently as 2017. They have a Facebook page under Next Doors. Terry Patterson was Morrison and he acted in a movie I made called Hellion if you want to see more of him. A great and talented friend.
This is very strange. I knew of the back doors from Pittsburgh but never heard of the next doors. I am apart of the current Next doors tribute band. Which strangely enough is also based out of Pittsburgh. We play all over the place with shows lined up in Pittsburgh, Ohio, and Michigan. The next show is at Nelson Ledges in Ohio. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-F3KJulnJCoI.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lsN52LcUtjI.html
I knew you were in the NOTLD remake, but I HAD NO IDEA you were in DAY OF THE DEAD. Watching this made me so excited. Thanks so much for sharing this Jeff!
I live in Pgh and never heard of these guys. I'd go see them if they are still around. Always liked the Doors and would like to see their interpretations.
Your appliance zombie freaked me out as a kid! Honored to be able to say hi and also say way to go! I admire your story and hope to time travel one day to do the same! When I have my zombie film in production, I’ll be sure to get ahold of you, it would be an honor to have a Romero zombie involved.
Terry I miss you too buddy. Great times. I hope you have seen all the stuff I have on you from "Hellion " movie and you doing "The End" live. I loved directing you, your acting style, and your encouraging ideas.
The 1982 introduction was added to the Night broadcasts on cable back then, it's on only one VHS release. John Russo didn't even know about it. This segment wasn't it from the night Cinemax played Dawn in the 1990s? And it was not a unique print or the remastered Elite Entertainment/Anchor Bay job - it was just the Thorn EMI Video complete with the leader!
Great hearing from you Deb! Those were some good times. Roman Gardens Club Sandwiches. Hope you and the others are doing great! I don't remember you yelling at me at all. -Jeff
Judy! It's so wonderful hearing from you! I can't believe it. I had a feeling someone would find that video sooner or later. I'm glad your passing it on. The only other video I have from the Funny Bone is some nights before the closing on Route 51. I just posted it at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-clP1JHSfRhU.html So feel free to pass it along to everyone else, and say "Hi" from me. I hope all including yourself are doing well. I'll always remember the 1 cup coffee maker you bought me before I left for USC. I used it often. Take care and stay well. -Jeff
We're in the same elevator platform shot! I was just opposite you right next to Romero to his left. I too was 17 but just lied about my age. Our stories are really similar. I went back three times as well and ended up being in the behind the scenes documentary on the DVD and it was Greg who got me into the special effects make-up for the scene where we eat Steele at the end. (I'm the one eating his arm with the wrist watch). It too ended up in the book. I even Got George to sign my Polaroid. I still have all of the mementos including my make-up. This was awesome to watch. Thank you. Great memories.
