With how bad the roads have gotten. I would totally buy something like this. I feel bad for people who get their brand new cars beaten up on the road. This is perfect.
As GM Authority covered earlier this week, a cryptic ad in the latest issue of Car and Driver hinted at the imminent return of the Pontiac brand, sending enthusiasts into a frenzy over the prospect of witnessing the return of some of GM’s most beloved performance models. Now, GM has provided an official response. Suffice to say, enthusiasts will likely be a bit disappointed. GM provided the following official statement to the media regarding the ‘Pontiac Is Back’ ad: “We understand the ad was a joke and it was not placed by GM or anyone affiliated with GM. We appreciate the passion for all our brands as well as a good sense of humor.” The ad, which appeared on the back page of Car and Driver, proclaimed “Pontiac Is Back” in bold lettering, sparking a flurry of speculation. Car enthusiasts, as well as industry experts, all weighed in on the ad’s meaning, even though at the bottom of the ad a line of text clearly stated that the ad was indeed fake and “not to be taken seriously.”

I think what Honda doesn't go along with is the interpretation of what Americans consider a "real" truck. From what I can find out, statistically speaking, is that MOST trucks running up and down American roads and streets have never been off-road nor have they carried more than one sheet of drywall or plywood. Some have but most? Naw. Americans are in love with the idea of being that guy on TV bouncing off boulders in a riverbed or sloshing through chest high snowbanks. He might not need it tomorrow but sometime he might! It seems however, the Japanese take a more pragmatic or practical approach to things. If the majority of Americans driving trucks don't need "real" trucks, then Honda came up with something that can carry a sheet or two of drywall but still not jar someone's teeth out of their head tooling down the street with knobby tires.
