@@alexmatute5228 thank you for your response, I am looking at this model for landscape and portrait photography as well as cinematic short videos. This will be my first camera and I am a beginner. Do you think this is a good choice or should I look at other brand competitor like Fuji and Sony due to limited and expensive lenses for R7? Thank you so much! 😊
@alexmatute5228
@alexmatute5228 7 дней назад
@@HelloÁine In my opinion, this would be a good beginner camera. It has good battery life, 2 sd ports, and works with RF lenses. I also don't have any issues with overheating on this camera, as I tend to do with the Canon R6 when shooting 4k video. If you can, and if you want to save some money, get a refurbished one straight from canon. This will save you a few hundred dollars that you can invest on lenses, which are ultimately far more important than a camera body. But if you can only get one lense to start with, I would buy the EF to RF adapter and purchase the sigma 35 1.4 EF for portraits. Then, I would invest on the sigma 18-35 F1.8. Also, canon has a loyalty program, where if you provide a serial code from an old powershot camera, they will give you an extra 10% discount on any of their refurbished products and up to 15% on new. Look for their loyalty phone number online and give them a call. You will have to purchase the camera through one of their reps over the phone though.

Regarding the "losing focus" issue. It sounds like you shoot at full H+ continous for 15fps photos. Canon themselves recommend changing it to H (I believe that is 7 or 9 fps) for a more stable focus without any hunting in between. It happens as the R7 has the R3 focus setup, however, the R7 does not have the stacked sensor, which makes the focusing a bit slower and a bit less stable. That being said, 15 fps is nice but I tend to have way too many photos anyways, so more often than not I choose the H instead of H+ and thus rarely have issues with focus. I hope above made sense.

First off great video! What are your thoughts on buying a lens for a newer photographer when trying to decide between the Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM vs. Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 sport. My wife plans to use it primarily for video footage of our son playing lacrosse, but plans to use it for photos as well. The price point difference between the two appears to be around $600 to $800. Based on my research the sport has weather sealing and 11 aperture blades vs 9 blades on the EX, along with some other minor differences (lens length and diameter). Wondering if it makes sense to spend the extra money on the sport version as it would be primarily for sports. We plan on pairing it with a Canon EOS R10. Thanks for your input in advance! Also curious what websites you recommend for buying used camera gear!

I'm debating this lens vs the Sigma 100-400. Thought about the Canon RF 100-400 but It'll only go on the R & R5. My EF-S 55-250 renders as a 400mm on my crops. Also shoot on a 77D and EOS M6ii where the crop will make a 400mm seem like a 640mm, long end or speed boost it to the M6, where it gains, I think, 1 stop. Want something to replace my EF-S 55-250 USM but smaller than the 150-600 G2. Or there's always the RF 100-500 L, lol. Basically I'm down to this or the Sigma.

Thank you for the review. I would be curious to give a fast Canon lens a try, to see if it makes different colors than the M43 lenses. Did you consider the Panasonic 40-150mm ? It is small, cheap and native lens with OIS. Not as fast though. btw Maybe you did already but for those auto focus issue you could try the near and far focus option on the G9. Greatly helps telling the camera your preference on focusing distance. I have set the 2 front buttons of the camera to near and far and it is so handy for macro/close up shots.

Yes, I ultimately ended up buying the Lumix G 40-150mm a few weeks ago. Found it for about $80 on eBay and decided to give it a try. I am actually quiet impressed with the results I have gotten with such a small lens so far. I would much rather recommend it over the Canon, although the reach is not as long. I haven't had any issues focusing with it, I would say its even good while using the Continuous focus feature on the G9 with it. I did not know that such far and near options existed on the G9, I will play around with it tomorrow and see if I can set them as well. Those would come in very handy.
