Yes its an upthrust of a harder material than which it popped up through, the surrounding material has since eroded away leaving what we now get to see and admire.
My girlfriend and I (both retirees from the East Coast) are planning a long road trip in October. We were going to go as far as Medora and then start working our way through South Dakota and Wyoming. What was your overall impression of that North Dakota area?
Jaynee and I are currently on our cruise, we want to give this reply the appropriate response. There is so much which is intrinsically valuable in this region of the US. Rest assured as soon as we step of the cruise we will add to this reply.
Hi Tony, so here is the long answer. South Dakota, Sioux Falls, Minuteman Missile National historic Site, Badlands National park is a great day trip if you like getting outdoors, Then all round Rapid City there is heaps to see and do, Custer State park is a fairly small area, probably 3 hours to complete, but then big ticket items, Rushmore, Crazy horse, Needles highway. South Dakota is high on our list to revisit if we have time. We have not finished Wyoming, but another fantastic area to visit and explore, Devils Tower is remarkable. North Dakota is another state on our revisit list, Medora is a standout, Theodore Roosevelt National Park we repeated our visits. My overall rating for the 4 states combined, Nt and St Dakota, Wyoming and Montana is 10/10. Based on where we have been so far, if I had to choose one to live in it would be eastern Montana to give clear access to these 4 fantastic states. Now bear in mind Jaynee and I like to get out into nature and see all of that which is on offer. I hope this helps. Brent & Jaynee
@@AnchorsAwayRV Thank You for the detailed breakdown of that area and for highlighting your favorites. I rented a car for the entire month of October. We are coming from Maryland,...so at least 10 days (no reason to rush) will be spent driving out,...and back.,..but,...we wanted to see that area in the fall.
Cool story. Just a friendly FYI... Unless it is deliberate play on words, you should know the correct term is "Anchors Aweigh" not "Anchors Away". It means the Anchor has come free of the ocean floor.
Hi Jason, Yes fully aware of the spelling and meaning. You are correct that it is a deliberate play on words. As in we are "away" on our travels. Nice that someone finally noticed. 👍
The 'scary' house to you guys is spectacular...this is so me....I love anything to do with wood and old fashioned antiquity furniture love it!!!! I'm going to enjoy your videos for sure!🥰
I don't know if it came across well in the video but Brent loves all the old antique tools and furniture, he restores furniture when we are home, and makes one off pieces from scratch. He absolutely loved that one house as well.
All the tribes in the Western Hemisphere were prehistoric until Europeans began recording their existence in 1492 because THEY HAD NO WRITTEN LANGUAGES AND DID NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT HISTORY EVEN MEANT.
That is partially true, When Europeans first made contact with North American Indigenous Peoples, they did not have a known writing system. Instead, they relied on oral histories to pass down their traditions and culture through storytelling thus had a vivid understanding of history and its influence on the present day. Tribal elders would share vivid narratives about their history, customs, rituals, and legends with younger generations, unlike the Maya, Aztecs, Mixtecs, and Zapotecs of Mesoamerica who had native writing systems. Not sure what the shouty bit at the end is about though?
We have been traveling around for a while now, the tips are not a problem, its pretty much just the service industry, so restaurants etc and you know about it before you head out and build it in. The taxes caught us out when we first got here, they are not posted on the price, it gets added at check out, in Australia the price has to include taxes. So a couple of times Jaynee went back to query the price... we are used to that now. But this was the first time to be charged for the use of a beach. Now I get what the other bloke said, we have similar stuff built into our rates in Australia to give us free entry into places and similar perks. I guess the state parks don't run on fresh air so need to get revenue how ever they can.
That’s bull crap. I imagine it may be because you aren’t local resident. Or maybe a 1 time fee just to pay for maintenance. Like someone to come cut the grass empty trash cans or something along those lines.$9 does seem like a lot if it’s not just a one time thing. Are you staying with any locals? If you are I’d imagine they wouldn’t have to pay and can bring visitors. That’s how it is at my uncle’s. But they have boat slips and a boat ramp that people use.
Haha, no its just old like its owner, and most likely the previous owners did not treat it very nicely. Everything we fix generally stays fixed, and we are getting on top of the general maintenance now as well. But there will always be things that need adjustments.
Well I did give it a shot, but it was well lacking in the usability. They would have been better off trying to roll aspects of their Roadtrippers into Campendium. Thanks for your support.
Hey! Sad you didn't find any diamonds, however Jaynee must be pretty close. Also, G asked me to tell you, that you are more and more Julian Assange with each passing day. Lhfao as opposed to lmao.....
At some point, I will list out all of the repairs and costs. I am curious, Was it better to go cheap on the purchase and deal with the issues? or should we have spent more at the start.
You are soooo Robbins family. You always have to fix stuff on vacation... of course not saying you don't need to. Just saying... all our vacations were spent on a project. Cheers my lovelies
We got the calculation slightly wrong, it was $35 per night full hookup off season. Later in the year it will be $50 per night and then the vehicle fee $15 per day on top. Convert to AUD $75 per night. So yes very steep. But nice spot right in the middle of Dallas Fort Worth.
We did not fish, however a lot of people were, the fish were coming right up to the shoreline as well each morning. There is a lot of catfish and bass which I could identify from the shoreline.
Hey Kellie, yup I was sure we would have a leak as well. The ceiling stains were a worry. So for 2 days during the storm I was wandering around feeling all of the ceilings and looking in cupboards. But just the 1 leak. So pretty happy about that.
@@AnchorsAwayRV yes I enjoyed watching your videos. Suggest you that put some ranked keywords in your video tag section so you will gain more videos and subscribers.
She is behind the camera a lot now, since we started driving. I put her on the spot today (She is actually a bit unwell) and got her in front a bit on the video we are producing right now. Our trip from California to Texas.
