I shouldn't have to say this but do not pick locks in use or locks that are not explicitly owned by yourself unless you have the express permission from their owners and that they understand the risk of damage picking may cause. ALWAYS keep it fun ALWAYS keep it legal. Don't make picking a crime.
I want to express my appreciation for channels with content like yours, as well as other locksport enthusiasts. I've found a hobby I really enjoy, and I earned my orange belt within a week of touching a pick for the first time. I couldn't have done it without the quality information that you and others provide, thank you so much! I really want to get my hands on some Abus locks, now. If they feel like they look, then I'm in for a real treat. Any suggestions for someone in the U.S.?
Does this work on all different types of locks like padlocks, house locks, car locks or is it just what you described as a dimple lock? I buy old hot rods and restore cars and lots of times. Don't get the keys so it would be awful handy as i do old car restoration
Cause it’s sturdier. That’s simply why. Keep in mind they are talking beginners. Noobs. People that aren’t that educated on picking locks. Should they start with the Slim Line, if they are trying to be decent. Yes. If they are just giving it the ol’ college try. This set. Some people don’t want to ruin a $40 set.
Hilariously this is how I got THAT KIT YOURE USING lmao, my birthday or Christmas, one of the two but I was so happy and still learning but the clear locks suck. So I bathroom practiced
Nice review! I think the TOOOL picks are made by Southern Specialties, who also made the first Covert Instruments picks before CI started designing their own and went to an alternative manufacturer.
This set looks very good, and I have a lot of GJ tools so I know the high quality standards, excellent customer service and aftercare that you get with them. However, I do keep hearing everyone raving about the 8-Ball multi-guage pick, so in this instance making a choice between the two would be a tough for me. Although I don't like the 8-Ball's 3d printed handle, it's a substantial weak point and it's a disappointment to have it in an otherwise premium product. The GJ Tools handle in this set looks great, and is a far better offering...
I like the idea of these credit card type tools, but the “looboo idea” one is probably the best bought option, if you don’t want to make your own tools.
If heavy bars are not available, can tension bars be doubled or tripled up and taped together as a makeshift heavy bar? I'm just curious if that could/would work. That's to work in a pinch if needed. Obviously, if you find you're lacking something that comes up from time to time, invest in it, but till then, I reiterate the question.
I'm a locksmith though. Lol. The lock picking community is a double edge sword for lock advice outside of lock picking. Please go to your local locksmith for advice about which locks will work best for your situation.
A while back I bought an aluminium storage box for my trailer. Upon receipt and inspection, I couldn't find the keys....The box was locked. I shook the box and there was a key like jingle coming from within.....yep, you guessed it! The shipper thought it was a good idea to lock the keys inside the box (not the sharpest marble in the bag). I did not have a set of lock pics but I knew the basic concept and this was not a complicated lock. All I could find were some stainless steel turkey pins ( you know, the ones you use to pin your turkey to keep it together prior to shoving it in the oven) I was able to fumble one into a tension tool and used the other to work the tumblers. Well my hands were getting sweaty and I went to readjust the pics (turkey pins) and some how rammed one into my thigh through my trousers. A quick touch of first aid and back to it, I was. More determined than ever, I used a very small flat screwdriver, coupled with a turkey pin to assist each other as a tension too and got back in there with the other turkey pin to manipulate the tumblers....the hooked end of the turkey pin got stuck and I yanked on it.....pulling the whole plug outward. Well I sort of got to where I wanted to be, just not the way I wanted to get there. LOL I used a larger flat screwdriver inside the lock housing to mimic the action of the lock to open the box. Behold! The keys were tethered inside. After removing the keys, I inserted the lock plug back into the lock body and pushed firmly until it clicked into place then cycled it several times with the keys. I then went online and ordered a lock picking kit (if I needed it once, I would need it again). I found one which came in a nice dual compartment case with roughly 19 pics, 4 tension tools and one double ended tweezer looking tension too, as well as a clear practice padlock, a clear plastic practice dead bolt and a clear plastic practice double ended (keyed from both ends) door lock. All three locks came with two keys each. I spent almost two full minutes with the padlock and got it open then the same with the other two. I got it down to about 10 seconds per lock. Great kit but this video is worth 100 times its weight in gold! Thanks for posting such a wonderful video!! 👍👍👍
Very nice pick on a sophisticated lock!! Loved seeing someone able to pick a lock with pin-in-pin and spring-pins! Wonderful content!! Entertaining and expert!!😊🎉
