To be truthful, my mother used to lock my bedroom door to keep me inside at night. She was ( justifiably) correct that I might take apart the TV and get killed by a capacitor discharge. Looking back on myself and what I had done, I can see why. I was born in 62 and was dangerous to myself ( and others ) by 1967. Thankfully i never got that far out of control.
It’s a shame that such programs aren’t made anymore. Luckily the Christmas lectures on BBC are still a thing. As a kid I adored these shows and doing experiment. And my nephew now gets into that age of discovery 5.5, so whenever I’m there I have a little trick to show him and his little sister. His sister just loves the attention and being part of it. But he gets to that age that he starts to realize that somethings behave differently than he expects. And seeing his bewilderment and asking “why” or “woahhh!!!” Or me favorite “that’s not normal” 😂Is so much fun.
I remember having the real logo turtle robot in class. Looked like a Perspex dome, with crummy wheels and a ton of wires in it. And it would drag a pen a long.
Are there broadcast dates for these wonderful episodes? We know the titles from the start. But--the IMDb isn't of any help. Other than that, these early shows are awesome as a possum with a blossom!!
I made a hot dog cooker this way once. It was just two nails through a board with a cord attached. There was one flaw: the ends of the dog beyond the nails did not get hot.
When I saw this on tv as a kid, I saved up a whole year to be able to buy a c64 to use the flight simulator. I just got my private pilot's license. but this clip started it all.
energy is created from the inertia of force created by the turning of the wheel itself, the source of the energy then stored as electricity within a fucking battery is THE CENTER of the wheel. WHERE are the fucking episodes about that because I didn't teach that shit to myself.
In seventh grade I did the hotdog experiment in science class for the Friday experiment showcase. I don’t understand at all how my teacher let me connect forks to a lamp cord and plug it into the wall!!
Watched this as a kid. Favorite of mine. It aired in the morning, before school. I loved the "Challenge" section, but also hated the fact I knew it was the final segment and I'd have to go to school afterwards.
