Also look on the CQC website for the CQC rating on the hospitals in your area for how well they performed for maternity. That has been my guide and helped me make an informed decision as to where to give birth. Those ratings are there for a reason. Be sure to be aware of this!
Please please please, don't be alone without an advocate or a doula ever, for your birth. Please ask for an advocate and make sure you get one. It is best never to be in labour without someone by your side. Even if the hospital says you will never be alone, from my experience, it can happen that you will be left alone. Even when midwives are there, YOU WILL BE IGNORED AND LEFT TO SCREAM, especially during HANDOVER, as they are so used to hearing the screaming and think nothing is happening even if the baby may be coming! No one will come when you ring that 'bell'. It has happened enough times for me till I learnt that there is such a thing as a doula. Ensure you have multiple people on standby in case eg your husband gets tired waiting for hours. You need someone to help you jump into the hot shower (the hot water at the hospital or home helps soothe pain even if you are not allowed a birth pool). What on earth are we doing in modern society! So either ask for an advocate or get a doula ahead of time if you can save up for a doula. Maternity services can recommend doulas to you if you cannot find one on your own. You need someone independent who will not stick with the midwives and their opinions of you but stand up for you and your birth rights. Keep changing 'advocates' if they are not advocating for you. The NCT also has a directory of doulas. In these times when life is precious, we need good women around us before and during child birth and also after, like it was back in the day x All the best x

A provisional licence enables you to drive everywhere, except on motorways, as long as you're supervised by a suitable person and you display 'L' plates on the vehicle you're driving
Whilst you are allowed to drive in Great Britain on your original licence, you can still exchange your foreign licence for a UK one at any time if you so wish. If the EU/EFTA licence that you currently hold was exchanged for a licence from a non-EU country then you'll only be able to use it for 12 months
You should come visit Birmingham Alabama USA. It's not nearly as big as Birmingham UK but it's got a rich history all its own. You won't find much African food in BHM USA but you can find African American soul food.

Can you tell me why they didn’t give you epidural? Was this discussed before induction that you would like epidural? I don’t understand, did they put you on a drip without epidural?
