Great interview and just found out about Bill the other day and just order his book. I’ve been out of touch with dance music for about 20 years, but I loved house music since the mid 80’s. Oh and just had a flashback, when o went to Spain for the first time in 89, I was surprised to find a cassette tape of Joe Smooth’s album promise land at this convenience shop in their random cheap tape section. I was like what is this tape doing here at this store?! Since I bounced from one style to another, did ppl. make fun of you for listening to house music in the mid 80’s? Bc I sure was and that’s how it was when buying house music back then, bc most thought it was too repetitive and a short fad. Now I’m trying to see what i can do with my experience with dance music and trying to get back into it. Never dj’d bc I always wanted t try o be the best and i was my biggest critique. Meaning I’m my worst enemy and when I get past that, I usually do things much better than the average.
So that was the first copy of the book with the black cover? I just ordered the copy with the yellow cover bc it said revisited and thinking it’s the newer version.
Also since I was part of the house music industry, I ran into many haters and phony ppl. So Bill seems to be a straight up kind of guy and great to see someone doing well with that personality.
