I have both: GW-M5610U for value, GW-5000U if you want steel core and screwback case like the original, better display and better resin. And made in Japan. The latter is better, but not three times better. ;)
Gw5000 is not a value watch it’s not even a g shock as far as I’m concerned. As if you would pay that much for a Casio digital watch. These people gone mad. 😂
The first G-Shock was made in Japan and came with s steel core and a screwdown caseback. It is not only a G-shock, it is extremely close to the very first design.
Originally wanted the 5600, then seen the 5610, now the 5000u. Might just pick up the 5600 for cheap and wait on the 5000u? Maybe a Black Friday sale will come up?
Wife got me one for Father’s Day/birthday. $255 on Amazon, Japanese supplier. Been wearing it for 3 days. Love it. I fly for a living, and for me it’s the perfect pilot watch. Easy to read. Durable. Comfortable. Easy to change times, and the UTC time with my timezone time together is perfect. All it does is work.
5000 is too expensive - the GWM 5610u is much more practical, actually compare the display angles on these to the DW5600e - that display is awesome and only $40
Don't buy the GW-5000, it's not worth for the price, if you are going to spend that much money then I recommend for the real premium one : the full metal GMW-B5000
En Europa el GW5000u yo lo acabo de adquirir por 200euros, la diferencia de 90 euros vale la pena es un reloj que se siente muy bien tanto de peso como la calidad de la correa.
The 5610u for looks the price and all of the same functionality but my favorite part is it looks almost exactly like the 1983 original G-Shock and Kikuo Ibe the creator of the G-Shock said that the 5610u was his favorite G-Shock 👍🏻
But… smaller size. Don’t get me wrong the GW5610 is the most beautiful currently g-shock model. But it is so tiny… I had to change my GW5610 (to a GW5000) because it looks like a Baby-G… and I have a 18 cm wrist !!! Ok… 3 times the price but NO REGRETS AT ALL. The GW-5000u is the watch to go. No doubts.
