there are people who say steely dan is a good band. Thats fine, they are studio musicians and they are thorough But does that mean they can get away with dropping dweeb rock and supermarket tunes? absolutely not. I want the earth purged of their songs.
Glad to see you had a good time. Ill try and make it to one of these anniversary sales. Living in CO it's a bit more challenging. Would you say the best option is line up like RSD? Cause some folks line up at midnight or 1am when it comes to rsd
Hey, I definitely would especially if coming from CO. The good thing is he always does a flip video of everything they are putting out. That way you know exactly what to expect and you don’t have to role the dice on a long trip. I’m not a RSD guy. I try to focus more on OG stuff but I hear it’s crazy.
I am new to your channel. Most of those guys in front of you I know quite well. Last year I took a road trip from MI to Noble Records and met up with a bunch of VC members and of course Dillon. It was a blast. A lot of great record stores in that town. I will be back
Jeff, cool Noble Anniversary drop. Sorry we didn’t meet. Cool you talked to Chance and Dave. Hey since you are in Charleston do you happen to know Aaron Metal Theologian? He lives down there somewhere. You had a lot further to drive than I did. I just came from Winston Salem. Glad you got all but one record you wanted. Peace ☮️ Namaste 🙏 the Zonkman
I thought it was cool to see that there were rare records for everyone that lined up to grab. Dillon curates these drops to perfection. My friend Steve was at the back of the line and still was able to get the sealed copy of St John Green. I would have liked to get that copy of A Love Supreme but it was the first record to go to those guys that drove down from Virginia. No better shop in the country for those psych and hard rock titles you grabbed. Good work. Peace.
Thanks for all the kind words, I really do try to make everything fair. I charged you what I paid for that Khavas Jute, truthfully. Anyways, hope to see you again! ✌️
@@noblerecords Absolutely, I wanted to get across how fair your prices are. Hopefully I articulated that. The shop is a destination. Sent you a couple emails as well, let me know if you got them.
Nice overview, Jeff! I tend to gravitate towards psych which is a bit more pop oriented, and even veers into some bubblegum territory. Soft Machine releases I've been keeping an eye out for. 😎🎶 Ed
@vinylrecordinfo No specific album comes to mind, yet when I think of Soft Machine, they run the whole gamut from psych to prog to even jazz fusion. For an experimental soul, trippy, psych LP, check out the self-titled debut from Rotary Connection. Very much an LP of its time. Enjoying the videos, Jeff 😎🎶
Hello Jeff. Came across your channel in my RU-vid feed. New to the VC as well, and meeting some cool folks along the way. Nice showings there, and that Piper pressing looks great. Gun and Pluto are new to me. Looking forward to checking out your videos. 🎶😎 Ed.
@@onmyturntable7036 hey man thanks for joining the channel. If you haven’t already, go through and thumbs up all the videos (helps me get in the YT algorithm). Thanks again.
Nice man Prog is the golden age of music. And it paved the way for literally everthing today. Like Pink was saying screw the system in 77’ doesnt get much better than rock n' rock durning this time.
You can't have original American presses of English groups. You can only have American first press. Plus 90% of american so called psych is just rock. Groups like Andromida , T2 Deviants etc are called underground. Both Rush and Yes would have been bigger had they had male singers instead of girly choirboys..
Really cool UK pressing of Honky Chateau. Translucent vinyl, appears black but deep burgundy color when held up to a light. Virgin vinyl. I've been looking for one for a long time, nice video!
Hi mate, so glad you mentioned/showed Rodriguez, excellent artist who never got the recognition he deserved IMO, i have a friend from South Africa and he was telling me that he was as big as The Beatles in his homeland, and i can also tell you that he has always got airplay on radio stations here in Australia to this day. you should listen to Sturgill Simpson for a cool country/bluegrass guy from Kentucky, great stuff. anyway, a great video mate - Lloyd
Thanks man, yeah it’s really crazy his popularity there. Especially with his impact on the anti-apartheid movement and the general culture shift he had was incredible.
I remember when I first heard 21st Century Schizoid Man I thought this album is going to be great. Boy was I disappointed with most of the other songs. This is a good idea for a video.
If I find an old record in the shrink that's great cause its usually clean but I rip it off as,soon as I get home . I know a lot of people like the hype sticker but I don't care about them, they get tossed. You showed some really nice albums
Thanks, I definitely know people who also don’t like the shrink but I think it’s just something extra that’s cool. I also see the appeal of taking it off and just having a really clean sleeve.
Hi Jeff, to be honest im not a fan of shrink wrap, if an album cones with it thats fine but its not a go-to thing for me. i do try to save hype-stickers if i can but as long as the record cool thats all i need,.. not a Dylan fan??, so apart from "planet waves" which other albums of his do you like?... cool video with some cool albums - Lloyd
Hey Lloyd, definitely agree that solid condition on the vinyl is most important. I just think the shrink is a little added coolness lol. I like Planet Waves and Desire. I appreciate Dylan’s influence on artists and music in general but his style and vocals just aren’t for me.
@@vinylrecordinfo Hey Jeff, i kinda thought you might like "infidels" also, that tends to be an album non Dylan fans seem to like, each to their own, im not a fan of Beach Boys, Simon & Garfunkel or Van Morrison, three artists that most people love in the VC. have a great week mate - Lloyd
Hi Jeff, welcome to the VC mate, not really a prog rock fan but i will watch videos i am interested in for sure, all subbed up ready to go on your journey with you, BTW, jazz is not something i generally listen to because i just dont get 'it'. - Lloyd
@@vinylrecordinfo might be easier finding a gold nugget in my backyard than finding Kahvas Jute but i do occasionally venture into secondhand record shops so i'll let you know if i find one - Lloyd
Thanks for subscribing man. I’m trying hard to stay out of jazz but not doing a great job haha. Check out my other videos when you get time. More coming soon.
Great video, Jeff. Loads of great albums in your tag. Lovely copy of Toad, what a bargain too. Sounds like you were in the right place at the right time!
Thanks again, check out the promo and strange pressing videos as well. I’ll be doing Vinyl Deep Dives once a week starting soon. Let me know if you are interested in a particular record or pressing to cover (and if I have it ha)
Great video! And welcome to the vinyl community. Some great records there, keep the videos coming. Nothing wrong with having a bit of Tay-Tay in the collection. And nothing wrong with having a record closet. I’ve been relegated to a closet since we moved almost 2 years ago, I feel your pain 😆 I hear great things about that version of Muddy Waters Folk singer … maybe one day!
