I was there just days prior with the PCA. I posted some of my impressions on the track and the line. Would love to hear more about how it was in the wet! Agreed that it is an amazing track and so good to have in our area! acf.posthaven.com/palmer-motorsports-park-adding-a-third-dimension
Sterling Vernon The track was very fun/challenging in the rain. Water seemed to puddle up in turn 2 and the bottom of the corkscrew. The biggest problem was the puddle on the main street as you can see. It was very upsetting to the car, A lotus hit the wall there later in the day. When it was raining there was about ten rivers flowing down the straight and i could not tell which way my car wanted to hydroplane. there was also a stream flowing down the entrance of turn 1 making things a little interesting there.
Daniel Livingston Thanks, Dan! At one point, coming out of 5, I got a left-side point by which set me up to be way wide going into 6 and it was such a different turn. I had to really back off on entry and coax the car to stay on the track. It was exciting, sort of, but so much different in feeling from the tight entry line. Good to try all the lines and see what works best for you and your car, though. And how to drive the corners if you aren't where you want to be for some reason!
Derek Michaels Thanks! Nice meeting you as well, Im sure we will see each other out there at some point again. Thanks for the advice, It was very helpful especially on the uphill and downhill.
I want in with my 328I with a performance package. I'd be good and safe. What should I do ? Join the BMW club ? On a side note...LRP looks like its going to be amazing with all the work being done.
Chris Dunne Its actually pretty easy to get on track now a days. There's a number of clubs in the northeast to run with. I have not run with BMW CCA yet but I have heard they are great and their instructors are great. I mostly run with NASA Northeast or SCDA. I will be trying out Northeast Track Days pretty soon as well and the Audi Club. If you go to any of these clubs websites they will have a list of things to make sure your car is in safe operating conditions for the track. When its your first time you will be placed in a novice class where you will have an instructor in the car at all times on the track teaching you lines and giving you tips. It is very helpful and I recommend trying a track day. If you have any questions feel free to e mail me dlivingston1229@gmail.com
Daniel Livingston Thanks Dan. Been putting it off to long. Hoping to make it to LRP on the 20th to watch the competition. Just to see who's ass I need to kick. Is it to soon to trash talk when I've has never driven a racecar on a racetrack ?
Chris Dunne Im always willing to help out. There isnt much trash talking that goes on, everybody is friends and is there to help each other out since we all share the same passion.
Aside from the totally unthought outside pass @2:34 that was pretty clean. I'm curious what your average laptimes were. I recently visited OnTrack for an afternoon and had a great time...the last turn onto the scoring/finish line killed me.
Thank you for the feedback! It came out non blurry straight from my go pro and everytime i edited it, it got blurry so I will have to look into that more and figure it out!
