Hello I just came across this. So sorry to hear. I was in the PhD program with Bob at UVA. Really bright and nice guy. Great smile and laugh. He visited me here in San Luis Obispo CA back in 1993. I always planned on visiting him when I made it through Utah. Life is too short. Take care.

I consider myself a Technopagan UU and I believe Yeshua was a Guru who taught us that everything was an aspect of the Divine Souce. While I do reject the Pauline- Christian trinity. However, I do believe the original ideal of the Trinity was (archetypal speaking) is Father, Mother and Son. And Jesus Christ is archetypal to us. Jesus being our bodies and Christ, our true self (the soul) we are aspects of the divine Source called Eyn Sof, which is translated as infinity. Every feeling you have and everything you love is a manifestation of God, and when you realize that everything is a manifestation of that force. You're saved and can have your Heaven on Earth. HaShem bless.

This entire service was so wonderful. The talks were thought-provoking facilitating opportunity for meaningful self-reflection and insight and the music was OH SO nostalgic. I loved each cover. Thank you First Church. You bring light into my current home abroad in Hong Kong.

And THIS is why I'm a Unitarian. This is brilliant. I wish I had seen this before. Thanks for sharing this. But I'm glad I immigrated to Pennsylvania from Massachusetts instead of Utah... 🙂

Interesting to hear the same propaganda that Rev. T spouts from someone who wasn't there. As someone who WAS there, there is quite a lot missing in the telling of this story. It is a good study in reframing.

William Ellery Channing is the grandson of William Ellery, the signer of the declaration of Independence from Rhode island. I am related to him via this common ancestor. William Ellery was an avid abolitionist and lived until 1820, so I am sure his grandfather also had an influence on him.

I'm very glad that "a movie produced by the LDS church, Saturday’s Warrior” was said in the first minute of the sermon. It was a very courteous way to let me know that there simply was no serious rigor to what would be said in the rest of it
@austinbreinholt
@austinbreinholt Год назад
Saturday's Warrior was first produced at BYU in the spring of 1974 with Stewart, de Azevedo, and Harold Oaks, of the BYU theatrical department, being the moving forces behind the production.[3] Azevedo was only lightly involved with the BYU production but later in 1974 staged a production in Los Angeles that was billed as having the original cast.

Just loved the way you present yourself with so much composure and calmness. Very motherlike. So peaceful ~ very much a reflection of your faith in Islam. Which makes us more curious about the religion. Thank you for an interesting talk
