I found this tutorial of benefit. However, I would like to say, and this is just my opinion. I found it difficult to watch the screen as the guitar was, to me, upside down. I understand the principle, as that is how you would see the guitar as you play it. I would rather have the guitar shown as if I were facing it. That way, I would I could identify notes quicker. Many other guitarists may not have an issue with this. However, as I am left-handed, I need to visualise the guitar the other way around. By the way, I can not look at a 'left-handed' guitar player. I can not identify what they are doing. Funny old world, isn't it. Many thanks.
That makes sense. Notation for guitar, particularly chord diagrams, must be challenging for left-handed players. I am still experimenting with camera angels. Thanks for the comment.
Also 3 fingers is Travis Picking: "The core concept of Travis picking is simple: you keep a steady beat with alternating bass notes using your thumb. At the same time, you use your index and/or middle fingers to play treble notes, often in a syncopated rhythm." (Fender).
Love how you break this down! And… you let your students forgive themselves if they aren’t ready for tempo - so it’s the slow steady progress that gives confidence and ‘perfect’ practice and not get sloppy!!😅 Thank you!!❤
I just discovered your channel. Ive been learning guitar for the past two years. I'm 72, and i really struggle with bar chords. Love how you teach. Could you do a lesson on barre chords, please?
Want some constructive critique? Learn how to do that shuffle, strumming in an even beat up and down. 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and, with the downstroke on the numbers and upstrokes the ands (all 1/8th note intervals), and catching the strings on the appropriate up and down strokes, Doing all down strokes is what is producing the slightly differing rhythm and timing in this video. All down strokes also makes that more difficult to play that shuffle at any higher tempos.
@@justmehere6094 Thanks! The all down strokes at this tempo are for beginners to develop accuracy first. Absolutely we want to develop up strokes on the &s as well.
@justmehere6094 I'd say that both techniques are essential for beginners (and intermediates) to learn. Regular practice with a metronome or drum beat will develop excellent timing.
Sure! Here are some links to the books mentioned: Scales 101 ebook: buymeacoffee.com/allaroundguitar/e/269700 Hal Leonard Method: amzn.to/3Yb8s4m Modern Method for Guitar: amzn.to/4faFBmx
Wow,great lesson. Not just the clear progression, but also really well thought out camera angles. Refreshing to see a lesson where the focus is entirely on the guitar lesson and less on self promotion. New fan right here!
WoW!! You are one of the Best!! Clear, to the point and good pace…I would certainly recommend this video to anyone wanting to learn to play the guitar…Well done and thank you for sharing your knowledge…
Excellent video...we need to understand the basics and practice and learn timing👍...as we say, practice makes perfect,or good enough anyway😉....nice job!!

Glad I found you. I am beginner intermediate for years. I feel like I have a lot of holes and I am going back to basics here and learning things I jumped over.
Veeery clear. One of the best. I would only recommend to overlay a circle on each note being played for better visuals. Or keep showing the scales frequently.
Awesome video man! Quality of the production as well as the content itself. This will help me get back into practicing instead of just playing songs I'm already comfortable with! Thank you!!
Is it just me or does it sound like it's not being played correctly? I think he's playing too many notes or something about the feel and groove of his playing that fall short.
Teaching is a skill, it's not about how much information is being given but how much is being understood. This explains why there are so many teachers but only a few skilled unique teachers. Thank you sir for being inspiring and helping others to learn about one of the musical legends.
Absolute best youtube tutorial for guitar that I've seen .. thanks so much for taking the time to share this.... It may take me years to perfect it, but you've given me the map.
