Geiler Flug und noch bessere Doku :-) Wie stark war die Westkomponente? Monte Rosa ist meiner Meinung nach stärkste Welle im Alpenraum. Bei leichter Westströmung kannst du von Domodossola auch im Hangflug vom Dom über die Monte Rosa springen. Das macht richtig Laune :-) Hangflug Lee und dann 9 m/s laminar :-) Aber geil, hätte nicht gedacht dass das im August so gut geht
war einen Tick westlicher als klassischer Mistral. Das mit Domodossola musst mir mal bei einem Bier erklären. Wenn ich von Domodossola komme, dann komm ich ja auch erstmal ins Lee vom Dom. Jedenfalls empfinde ich die Querung von Aosta unter Einhaltung der Milano Airspaces bei Welle für schwierig. Wär schön wenn man da oben bleiben könnte.
@@LSVFlachkurbler Hängt davon ab, wieweit die Simplonwelle Richtung Pass steht. Dann kann man vor dem Dom rüberspringen und in den Hang. Ob das schneller ist? Weiß nicht. Geht um das Erlebnis :-) Jedenfalls war der Hangflug geil. Habe ich einmal gemacht. Öfter jedoch sind wir von Alzate aus über die Cima die Jazzi ins Luv der Rosa und dann wie beschrieben übers Lee in die Welle. Und da stürzt man zu Beginn über die Schneefelder des Gletschers vom Breithorn übers Lee ab und hat dann einen unfassbaren Übergang ins Granatensteigen. Eindrehen, ausrichten Fahrstuhl :-). Habe da aber sicher weniger Erfahrung als Du. Euer Weg den ihr nach Nordosten geflogen seid ist glaube ich schon nahe am Optimum denke ich. Aber gerne mal beim Bier :-)

Woah! DA krieg ich richtig eine Gänsehaut! Das schaut ja wahnsinnig cool aus. Besonders auch im Hinblick darauf, dass ich dort mit dem Gleitschirm rumgeflogen bin. Nächsten Sommer will ich dann unbedingt auch auf 3000! :-) Danke fürs sharen!

What a great flight! Very impressive I was flying some powered aircraft out of Locarno that day, but very quickly I regretted that I had not gone to Calcinate… rather unusual to see these conditions in summer on the Italian side of the Alps In north föhn conditions the south side of the Locarno valley is pretty much guaranteed the fastest option. Just south of the CTR there is usually a very good climb, also in blue conditions. From there onwards one can easily make it to Limidario to find the next climb.
yes, I was surprised that between Aosta and Tonale there was only EB and one more flarm contact while the conditions where not bad in the Veltlin. And conditions looked even better south of Veltlin with great cloud streets
I've had 15m/s in Ireland in my DG100 in a cumulus nimbus cloud . Around 150meters below cloud base I began to exit at 100knots but lift was so intense I was still climbing at 3m/s. Barely escaped the massive cloud about 5km in diameter .

Toller Flug. Ich kann nicht so recht nachvollziehen, wieso Du vom Galibier so knapp über den Sattel der Meije gehuscht bist. Dahinter ist es mit Außenlandungen echt dürftig bis Du am Guillaume wieder raus kommst und das Wetter sah ziemlich abgeschattet aus in den Ecrins. Was war denn mit der Option über Briancon und St. Crepin raus zu fliegen? Da gibt es zumindest ein paar Äcker und da schien mir auch mehr Sonne zu sein.
Wäre vermutlich eine Optin gewesen aber da ich den Royale hochgeflogen war und klar Westwind drin war, war auch klar, daß, wenn man mal um System ist, der Rückweg auch wieder gehen würde. Aussenlandung ist da im Prinzip völlig unkritisch, da man mit der Höhe und auch 400m niedriger nach Grenoble rausfliegen kann. Das Durance Tal runter zu fliegen ist abends oft schwierig und man hat bei weitem nicht die Gleitzahl wie am Royale wo man im Prinzip von der Meije bis nach Hause fliegen kann ohne Kreis. Das geht ganz sicher nicht wenn man das Durance Tal fliegt.

Hi Philipp, thanks for the nice video. You find that flaps +2 and speed around 110 km/h and ca. 45 degrees as optimal combination for thermalling in the V3M?
@@lupo631 I would say that 100 is definitely to low. I am flying with around 48kg/m2. 110 is possible if the air is not to turbulent. As soon as it gets a little rougher, 120 is safer. I am plannung on a mountain flying tutorial where I will talk about this a little more.
Ah, ok. I didn't expect such a high wing loading and checked it on Schempp-Hirth's data website for the Ventus 3. I flew for more then 16 years in the Southern French Alps in Puimoisson, so I'm familiar with that.@@philippkellerastro4703

I like this uncut video! In the map at the start it should be highlighted where the video starts, where it ends, and which direction you were flying. At the end, this same map should be displayed again.
Again an inspiring Alps video. Your previous videos helped me in achieving more distance and more fun in the southern Alps. Not sure if I will ever reach the Aletsch Gletscher from st. Auban but one can always dream.
