Pavane Publishing was founded in 1989 by Allan Robert Petker. The goal of the company is to advance the choral arts by providing practical resource materials and creative performance selections for both church and school choirs.
Lucky you! I’m just beginning it as a singer in a choir of senior citizens. None of the lines is difficult to sing, but we will have to be attentive to get our entrances right. The conductor, who has to signal each section at different times, must have the hardest job. I’m grateful for this video, which makes it easier to learn my part.
Why does the sheet music and audio not match? Examples are at m. 25-26, m. 72-73. The sopranos are adding extra little notes. Just wondering if this was done at the composer or director’s direction. I want to teach it this fall but this is a bit conflicting.
I asked the same question. If you go through JW Pepper or any publisher, you'll get this version. If you go through Chris, I believe you'll get the correct version. I'm assuming that Chris must have live edited the score for this performance and preferred it.
Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there; I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sun on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning’s hush, I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft star that shines at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there; I did not die.. Mary Elizabeth Frye, 1905-2004
I absolutely love this arrangement. Is this recording available for download? I heard it a couple of years ago and have been looking for one with this specific arrangement ever since.
Dr. Ron Kean is a remarkable composer and weaver of sound. I had the honor of studying under his direction for several years. Performing in his college choir and chamber group lended me some of the most rewarding and memorable moments in my life and i will forever cherish his work and the time I spent under his guidance. Thank you for all the memories and great music you shared with us Dr. Kean. You are truly one of a kind and you have a beautiful soul. I appreciate all of the many elements of culture and song that you graced us with to learn from. God bless you and your work, it was quite a privilege to have a teacher like you to learn from.

Thanks for this! Our adult choir, Vacilando, just started rehearsing this lively and challenging piece, and this video represents a very welcome learning aid.
