What is the longest period of time you ran the tractor continuously? Did the tractor run hot or have any other problems running the generator for a long time?
i have a 64 ford 2000 also. nice job on this one. ive been looking for a new starter that will fit, have not had any luck. do you know where/have a link to where you got yours? thanks
I fortunately didn't need any new parts for it. I just took it apart and cleaned out all the rust and crud. I believe that Moro pumps have similar vacuum pumps. You might try them. Better-Bilt was bought out by Vander Werff but I don't think they make parts for older equipment. Good luck
My father in law put on an over run clutch and his son drilled a hole in it and put a bolt through it. Had no idea why the tractor was “pushing “ him. Tractor was identical to yours. His son then would try to bushhog with and complained about it being weak. He was running it at 1200 rpm. He lugged it around. He has a 65 hp Massey and runs it at 1200.
I’m in Ks every once in a while need elc for 12 to 24 hrs I’ve got a jd 2210 with a 13 kw pto gen a little big for the little princess but while everyone is dark I’ve got elc & ac 110 to cook ac etc & neighbor s I didn’t even know about 😂 . Most I ran it was 2004 for 72 hrs in July what a blessing in 92 degree heat
Hey, I have a similar Ford ('64 4000) and it's a pleasant surprise every time I see you upload. Thanks for posting. I do bet these units cost an arm and a leg today.
Nice tractor ! mine is a 64 4000 with the ford loader and 172 gas engine in great original shape, I love these old ford tractors , I’ll have to make a video of mine .
Great video Jeffrey, I'm attaching the same setup wood splitter setup on my ford tractor but have many questions. I have the same Single Spool Double Acting Hydraulic Remote Valve Kit from Steiner, how did you hook up your hoses? The valve kit has two ports but which one did you use for high and low pressure? Also the valve kit handle is spring loaded to return to the center, did you use a bungee or something to wedge it open?
Yes I Bungie the control valve forward but it has equal power both ways so if the splitter runs backwards simply Bungie it the other direction. It's important to tape the threads on your hose fittings well or buy fittings that have an o ring in side to avoid leaking. Good luck with your job.
Excellent video and explanation of the installation process. I have a Ford 800 and considering adding the same Steiner single spool valve kit. The even though the T-handle gives you the ability to run double acting cylinders, shouldn't there be a hose for low pressure/return to the tank?
When you use dual action cylinders one hose has pressure to the cylinder and the other returns to the tractor. A single action cylinder has one hose at one end and a air vent at the other end to release the pressure as the cylinder moves in and out. Hope that answers your question.
👍 Good ideas. I never thought about the effect the Hyd top link would have using the boom. I still have my hyd top link cylinder still in the box. Doesn't have the check valve and I thought maybe it was needed so I was "thinking about it" still. 🙃 Now that I see it works without it, I'm going to put it on. Thanks....Paul
You need to look at the Steiner website for the hydraulic plate. It tells you all the tractors it works on. There are quite a lot, so hopefully it will.
I would have gotten the 3" model for less than $50 more. Would add a lot more lifting power seeing as it's doing most of it's work in the retract mode. Also would slow down the movement.
This is close to the same as mine. www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/tool-tuff-direct-overrunning-clutch-1-3-8x6-female-to-1-3-8x6-male-75hp-quick-release-27-027?cm_vc=-10005
I wonder if someone has changed the sheet metal on your 2000 or if maybe its not really a 2000. It shouldnt have the round plastic part on the front of the hood on a 2000. It should look like this one. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IS6OBSwDdAo.html
@@TheJohndeere466 The serial number for the tractor puts it as a 1964 Ford 2000. Last year they used the 134 four cylinder. From the NAA/Jubilee until 2000 The tractors looked mostly the same.
I just bought a 63 ford 2000 but mine has the selectospeed transmission. The trans. is a little jerky but it does give you nice slow gears. I think 1st gear is about 1 1/2mph. and it has live pto.
Bill, the yellow wire comes from the key/ignition switch. You don't want power to the coil when the engine isn't running. The coil will over-heat. Another reason to double check that you always turn the key off. I've be guilty of that a few times.
That's what I do not like on after market vales I paid a little more for factory for my Ford 5000 and now I have two hydraulic outlets on the back I use one for my hydraulic 3rd arm for my finishing mover the other for my disk and bush hog.
I bought it at a farm that was clearing out all their junk. It was under a pile of boards and other stuff in a leanto. I dug it out and made him an offer. I don't know if the company is still in business or not.
Was just gifted this same tractor by my neighbor. Your videos are already very helpful to learn about a new machine, something my elderly neighbor was not able to do. Thanks!
Sorry about that. The engine oil is added through the breather vent by the distributor. The tranny through the large plug by the shifter. The hydraulic is above the little dip stick. The rear end is on top of the differential.
I just bought the sameCounty Line boom pole from Tractor Supply. Put it on my Massey Ferguson 204, dragged a couple of logs, then fabbed up a mount and put a small winch on it with a block. Now the tractor is a mini-skidder for cleaning up the wood lot. 👍
this is with out a doubt the best video on youtube explaining points ignition system on them old ford tractors very informative great job explaining it way better than i could of done it thats for sure great job!
Time to turn off the natural gas and see if it works after decades of fake experiments. Yes, at least do CO and WY to see if anyone screams. Then we'll laugh so hard we'll have to start drinking and smoking crack!
Martin, anymore I use 80/90 grade for the transmission/ hydraulic system and rear differential. I was hesitant about using it in the hydraulic system but after talking to other tractor owners I've found that it works fine. Just needs to warm up in colder weather. You can use heavier oil in the rear differential if you want. I did a video about oil changes where I discuss that.
I can’t find any videos of people attempting to run a 7ft mower on a jubilee or 8n just people jabbering about The 5 hp per shredder foot width, how does that 7 footer cut ? Could it run an 8 ? My 8.n is great with my 5 footer and always wondered about a 7 footer
My engine is around 35hp if it is running well. It handles the mower pretty well but 1 foot tall stuff will bog it down. So I raise the mower a couple inches off the ground the first pass then down on the second and it does fine. I'm not sure of an 8N's hp but if it is less than 35 I believe you should go with something smaller. Agri-supply sells a 6 footer I think.
