Shahari Moore and Reel Black Filmmakers, thank you for posting this logline and treatment class. I'm a romance writer and needed a boost. This sure helped!
Awesome presentation! The measure of greatness is taking complex elements and conveying them with simplicity. She made it exponentially easier for anyone to jumpstart taking action in this space. Fantastic job!
Thank you so much for this. It’s been awhile for me and I’m getting back into it after almost dying, clinically dying, medical recovery, and mental health suffering bc of all that. I’m going to make my movie finally.
It's hard to identify in a meaningful way with a goal-driven protagonist in a world where most people spend their time and energy focused on things that are not directly related to their goals. As John Lennon famously said, " Life is what happens when you are busy making other plans". This goal-driven protagonist is partly why Hollywood films have little or no bearing on life as actually lived. Most of them are infantile fantasies, and that's not a bad thing. We need to escape from reality from time to time. But as black people films can also be a powerful tool to educate ourselves and to do this they neeed to be closer to our everyday reality. So, let's not forget to write protagonists who are victims struggling to free themselves from the clutches of a powerful antagonist.
Thank you, Dr. Moore, for sharing this very valuable workshop and video on Logline & Treatment. I think you are awesome! Much respect, love and appreciation.
