"Do i look beautiful in the half light?..." If you really want to know the quality and true level of a band, you need to hear their ballads. Ballads have something unique. It can shows you the soul of an artist, and the way he can feel his own work. His perspective. Ballads usually are very simple, few elements. Just few little details can defines a song. Literally, there's no great band/artist i've ever heard who their ballads are bad.
Deadwing is my favorite album from Porcupine Tree and every time I find more content from it, it makes me love the album even more! I wish they would post they're singles from Deadwing somewhere either on youtube or spotify.
They need to put the deluxe version on Apple and Spotify to add these bonus songs. I don’t know why they didn’t add it considering they did add the deluxe version of In Absentia.
David was a central character in the Deadwing story (a type of ghost story apparently) penned by Steven Wilson and a co-writer whose name escapes me. It was set to be a screenplay but sadly, the movie didn't happen. Deadwing, Arriving Somewhere But Not Here, Open Car, Lazarus (in which David is also namechecked), and Mellotron Scratch were all intended for the film soundtrack, but when the movie didn't happen, the Deadwing album did.
Rest in peace, litol bebbeb... The world treated you poorly and I feel sad how it turned out for you...I pray you find peace on the other side litol bebe...will miss you forever...
Nothing against Glass Arm Shattering but damn this track should've been the closer to Deadwing. Glad Steven and the gang played it live though, especially on the Anesthetize DVD, which is my favourite version of it.
Rest well, mama...I miss you and hope you find something better on the other side of death. This world didn't treat you well enough. You were a beautiful and artistic woman. It's too sad how it all turned out for you. I'm sorry. I love you.
No problem. I'm sure you have to strength to push through whatever it is. If you ever need someone to talk to, even if it's a stranger, you can always send me a message and I'll try to help.
@@hisenburghkizarwilhelm4570 It is! How kind of you to check in. Everything happens for a reason...that moment ended up being the start of something beautiful in hindsight. A chance to grow into something more... Thanks again kind internet stranger!
@@petwar83 good to know....hope better days are ahead...given what is happening in this world...I hope we can get back to the 2008 to 2012 good times vibe....those were the best times. Life has been unfair to me since 2020...😔lost my 1st job after university in 2021 after passing out in 2020...now going for higher studies with a fear of more bad days to come...hope everything turns out good for me...have high hopes and dreams. Hope I can also reach the success. Thanks for reply.
@@hisenburghkizarwilhelm4570 I'm sorry to hear that mate. It sounds like you've taken it in stride and are working toward something even better. I'm sure it'll all work out, you seem like a good person. Keep your head up and keep moving on!
Thanks petwar, for sharing that. And what you are saying rebuilding, well, it's something I really need to hear. Something I'v been needing to hear. Music is what helps me keep on keeping on and it's whats going to keep me going. Thanks for that.
No problem, everyone has their story. Let's just say you pin all your hopes on one outcome, and when that turns sour everything around you falls apart. What I learned, though, is that everything around you remains solid; it's what's within you that you must rebuild. The pain came from within, and it was up to me to heal myself. I learned not to focus on one outcome in life, but rather to go with the flow and accept whatever comes with love and openness. This song started my path to recovery.
I remember staring into the rain outside while listening to this after something life changing happened to me in the middle of the night. I will never forget those six minutes.
