*HOW TO WATCH GHOST IN THE SHELL* RIGHT. So there are 3 timelines, and they were MADE in this order -Ghost in the shell -Ghost in the shell stand alone complex -Ghost in the shell arise However, CHRONOLOGICALLY STORY WISE, it is in THIS order -Ghost in the Shell Arise (events leading up to original ghost in the shell timeline) -Ghost in the Shell (the original timeline) -Ghost in the shell stand alone complex (events that happen after the original timeline) So decide first which order to you want to watch it in, the order they were released (first one) or the order of the actual story (second one). Now this is how you watch each ‘timeline’ correctly in order Ghost in the shell original timeline - Ghost in the shell movie (1995) -Ghost in the shell: innocence movie (2004) Ghost in the shell: stand alone complex timeline (events that happen AFTER original) -Ghost in the shell stand alone complex season 1 -Tachikomatic days (26 2 minute comedic shorts, to do with the robots in season 1, adds nothing to the story, shouldn’t really watch it in my opinion) -Ghost in the Shell: Stand alone Complex - The Laughing Man. (This is a movie that summarises season 1. Watch only if you are about to watch season 2, and you need a recap of season 1) -Ghost in the shell: Stand alone complex - 2nd GIG. This is season 2 - Ghost in the shell: stand alone complex - Individual eleven. (Like laughing man, this is a movie recap of season 2, so watch only if you are about to watch the movie but need a recap first) -Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: Solid state society (a movie that takes place right after the events of stand alone complex season 2, not a recap of anything, this is new content) Ghost in the shell: Arise timeline (takes place BEFORE the original timeline) Now this depends on how you want to watch the ‘Arise’ series. There’s 3 ways: the 100 minute version (movie), the 200 minute, original version (4 OVAS), or the 300 minute, more detailed version (10 episodes). IF YOU WANT TO WATCH ARISE IN ITS ORIGINAL 200 MINUTE FORM: -Ghost in the Shell: Arise - Ghost Pain (50 minutes) -Ghost in the Shell: Arise - Ghost Whispers (50 minutes) -Ghost in the Shell: Arise - Ghost tears (50 minutes) -Ghost in the shell: Arise - Ghost stands alone (1 hour) IF YOU WANT TO WATCH ARISE IN ITS MORE DETAILED 300 MINUTE, BUT NOT ORIGINAL FORM: -Ghost in the Shell: Arise - Alternative Architecture (10 episodes, 25 min each) IF YOU JUST WANT TO GET THE SEQUEL OVER WITH (100 minutes) -Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie Anyways, the way I watch GHOST IN THE SHELL is in full chronological story order, with no recaps or repeated content, and the original versions. If you want to also watch it this way, here’s how: -Ghost in the shell: Arise all 4 50-minute OVAs (ghost pain, ghost whispers, ghost tears, and ghost stands alone) -Ghost in the shell movie (1995) -Ghost in the shell movie (2004) -Ghost in the Shell: stand alone complex season 1 and season 2 (season 2 is also referred to as 2nd GIG) -Ghost in the Shell: Stand alone complex Solid state Society (movie) This is 30 hours in total And there you have it! This is my recommended way to watch ghost in the shell: the original way and in chronological story order, NOT the order it was released. If you want to watch it another way, I left all the information above. Also, if you are someone who simply just wants to watch the two original movies, then that’s fine too. If you however are someone who wants to watch the entirety of Ghost in the Shell, in chronological story order BUT IN MOVIE FORM, since you are interested in Ghost in the Shell but not interested enough to commit 30 hours into it, then: -ghost in the shell: Arise - The New Movie (short 100 minute version of backstory before main 1995 and 2004 movies) -Ghost in the shell 1995 movie -ghost in the shell 2004 movie -Ghost in the shell: stand alone complex - laughing man movie -Ghost in the shell: Stand alone complex - individual eleven movie -Ghost in the shell: stand alone complex - solid state society movie These are 6 movies that tell the whole story of ghost in the shell but purely in movie form, which is 8 hours in total compared to the original way of watching it, (30 hours).
A world filled with cyberprosthetics, or a world under the control of the Sibila System... Which will come to fruition first? I feel that a cyberprosthetic social structure is not suitable for humans, but I still hope for cyberprosthetics... I wonder if we can quickly become cyberprosthetics? We can abandon the present and become someone no one knows, the pain will be gone... our ego will disappear, and even our memories will fade. There are so many good things about it. We won't age, and we won't be afraid of death. Our ghosts will belong to us alone, and no one can even touch them. There will be no concept of time... There will be no need for AI... I wonder if we can quickly become cyberprosthetics...
We are already becoming cyberprosthetics in some way. We store memories on our phone, meet people online, use devices to feel and see... It's just a matter of time!
Wonderfully summarised, this is a new perspective on this story. I think I suffered from that philosophical disease when I was younger, but we really are our bodies.
Just found your channel and have clicked through a few of your videos. I am so excited to learn more about Japanese culture and Psychology from the Dr. Sho Show!
No-killing policy? Goku? - Did Goku not kill Majin Buu? - Did Goku not urge Gohan to kill Cell? - Was Goku not eager to kill Freeza until he got bored of fighting him? Other than that, your explaination of Goku's character also matches what we had in the french-translated version of the manga. Thank you very much .
@@DrShoShow I see. I know the main reason is explained in the pressures that society puts on the average person, but while some people choose to keep on going, others choose to withdraw and become shut-ins. Maybe that's where the childhood part comes in.
@@DrShoShow Also, would you say that Japanese people are generally likely to consider psychotherapy as a way of helping them deal with problems in their lives? I would imagine not really. I'd imagine pharmacotherapy instead is popular, same as in the US.
Social pressure, childhood trauma, and other environmental forces may or may not break a person depending on how that person's body is built. This is the genetic and bodily vulnerability. If one's body is vulnerable to a social pressure, it will break (cause mental illness).
Very informative!! Thank you. I agree with you that Freud is the greatest psychologist. Although we don't accept some of his ideas nowadays, the revolution he made regarding the human mind is astonishing!!
I would love more videos on Freud! I am very interested in his idea of the ‘death drive’ and also concepts like sublimation. Thanks so much for the excellent video!
But the point is Goku does selfish things/actions but his intentions are pure due to his pure heart so it actually makes him the most selfless/Purest being in the universe like Toriyama has said
Similar mythology in Indian philosophies too but Different in Buddha Becoming & collectively unique to the island nation. 6:38 Does this "inherently goodness" reflect in Japanese law criminal and civil and the application of it by police and law enforcement agencies ? 11:50 Do make one on the Seppuku or Harakiri mention in series ? How does afterlife works in suicide ?
Yea indeed. It's an island culture. The current laws in Japan is pretty much an import from western nations, so it doesn't really reflect the native Japanese philosophy. I don't think the series deals with the seppuku, but there is no difference in treatment of how one dies (suicide or otherwise) in Japanese culture.
