Problem with united is other clubs like arsenal,city,Liverpool have compunded so much over the years that now no short term solution will suffice,united needs a long term project and focus on youngsters
Jose spent 360 million, which is around 500 million in todays money, and every single one of his signings was a disaster. He was only interested in signing 30 year old players for astronomical fees who only had 1 good year left in their legs. Jose is a brilliant manager for clubs who don't mind boring football, don't care if kids get developed or not, and who can outspend everyone else. For a club with a history of developing exciting kidd and history of playing attacking football, He's a total disaster.

Some say it’s Pelé, but Pelé played a lot of years in a non existent USA league, and also underperformed in several seasons with Santos. Messi’s worst year would be the best season for 95% of footballers ever. Some say it’s Maradona, buy Maradona’s peak didn’t last that long. Messi has been the best player in the world or in the conversation for the best every year for the last 15 years. Some say it’s Cristiano Ronaldo, but having lived through all of it, and seeing what Messi continues to do, I can say Cristiano could never do what Messi did week in and week out, while Messi could do what CR7 did best, which was score.

What’s even crazier is the fact that if Messi didn’t get injured in 2013, he probably could’ve broken his own record of 91. Messi during March had around 30-35 goals and had a 4 game span before his injury where he had 16 goals Edit: Messi missed around 3 Months with his Injury and he stilled bagged around 47 goals in 46 appearances for Barcelona. If he played all 63 games for Barcelona he would’ve had around 64 which is less than his number in 2012 but ofcourse he slowed down his production after the injury
