I do like the end results but I think you're over-doing it on all stages of the process. Imagine repositioning all of those lights of the second clip to get a reverse shot. And also the editing is good but all of these steps you've taken to get there feel unnecessary. Adjust WB and sat, then contrast, then halation and grain, boom, you're done. Less is more. Keep up the good work, cheers from Brazil brother.
Great work here. I will offer a somewhat controversial tip to mimic the look of film with your cam. Set the ISO to 1000 on set. That will move more stops into the highlights and smooth the rolloff substantially. It will also require you to do more work on the skin but if it's film you're after this can be quit helpful. I got my head chewed off by another RU-vidr DP for recommending this, but I swear by it and have been doing it on all my commercial work and it's working for me. Just a little tip. But otherwise, man, you really nailed these looks. Fantastic job!
Hey I know I am late to the party but this is incredible, is there anyway you can show how your graded the 2nd video this in depth? I am very curious as to how the layers worked.
Really nice video, al though the sounds annoy me I'd much prefer if you used the real hustle and bustle of new york, instead of fabricating them. like in the 0:45 boat scene, the announcer is... Spanish? It gives me mixed feelings but the video... it looks very clean and yummy
You searching in the wrong videos. This is the best and the only video I saw that looks like it was shut on film and it was done with the old BMPCC. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-K4aRg3EI22I.html
This is one of the BEST tutorials I’ve seen. You are very good at your craft. What camera do you use when filming your video here, like the intro with you on the ground? Is it different from the one used to film your actors? Also curious what lens you use. :)
There are some fan that make old Star Trek episodes. They have the colors really close to what the old show looked like back in the 1960's their channel is called Star Trek Continues.
